i9400 ´/ e1705 - Geforce Go 7800 - Details available?

Hi out there,

i received my i9400 yesterday and wanted to know wether or not there are some results / details out there already related to OC capabilities and potential side effects like temperature etc...

I will post my first scores here as well. The Geforce Go 7800 in my machine is running at 250/658 an achives these scores:

3dMark03 9366
3dMark05 3836
3dMark06 2142

All the above is using the default settings in the benchmarks and the original drivers provided by Dell.

It seems that there are some different ideas on how many pipelines the Go 7800 uses / has in the end. Has that been identified in the meantime?

Going back to play now.

i formated my computer and used the xtreme g 82.65
however only got 1998 on 06 .... maybe should have staed with the original drivers...

Are you guys using 1280x1024 default 3DMark06 resolution?

I tried that and got 2242 with default drivers..

Nice thats more than my desktop with an Athlon 3200+ and an ATI X800XL 256MB PCI Express card which only got 1398 in 3dmark06.

Installed the Xtreme G drivers (82.2x whatever is latest on that web site), and with no-oc, I get only 2045 on 3DMark06 (200 points lower than default Dell drivers).. what's up with that? Did I mess up somwhere?

Any way.. with very slight OC (+75/+125 to factory settings) I got 2801 on 3DMark06..

..just a bit confused why the default factory clock gives me 200 points lower with the new drivers..

I'm seriously looking at getting either a 9300 or 9400 now that these new coupons are out. I'm not too familiar with the 3dMark06 scores though. Has anybody been able to get over 4000 in 05 with the 7800go? I know there've been people who have gotten almost 5k in 05 with their 6800go in a 9300.

You guys are getting low 2,000's with the 7800 GO in your 9400's? WOW thats not good at all to be honest. 3dmark06 is highly optimised for dual core and my 1.73 P-M and 7800GTX GO scores 3450 in 3dmark06. I gotta be honest here I am not very impressed with the 9400's now. They are really high in price and to get any real gaming performance out of them your gonna have to drop an extra $260 for a 7800GTX GO.

I get 4225 3DMark05's @ 360/730 with my 6800 Go, non-ultra. Seems odd the new 7800 Go is scoring less than the slighlty over clocked 6800 Go?

The 7800 go is clocked at 250/658 stock.. if I o/c my 7800 to same clocks as you, trust me, the performance is a lot better..

All I care about is that I'm able to run FEAR at native 1920x1200 resolution with all settings to high and it flies.. that tells me my machine will be good to go for a while.. If it ever starts falling behind, I can always drop down to the next wide-screen resolution (which, btw, supprisingly, doesn't look all screwed up like some scaling displays like to do)..

Black_Barney, have you been able to achieve this? I'm trying to get FEAR to work on my new system with everything maxed out, but so far I haven't found the right combination of Driver + OC to achieve this. What driver are you using and what are you OCing to?

are u able to remove the e1705 7800 and run the integrated gfx?
I am considering getting the e1705, and selling off the 7800...

I think they give you a choice for integrated graphics card or 7800 in the customization on the e1705's now.

Yeah, the 7800 won't go faster than a 7800GTX thats for sure... but where his computer will shine is in things like DVD ripping and encoding, downloading large files in the background while playing games, etc. For pure fps gaming speed though it will play second fiddle to your 7800GTX.

Well then maybe they stuck a 7800 in SLI in my lappy because I'm playing at max res/settings it will allow..

Won't lie, it stutters here and there, but overall, it's playable.. Now to get "good" frame rate (30+ fps) I'd need to drop it down in res..

Any who.. I think for a $1500 lappy (mine turned out that cheap after all), it's quite the performer.. My desktop is slower, and after all was said and done, it cost me ~$900.. So.. $600 for something faster and mobile, WAY worth it!
