problem after flashing xps bios?

Thread Starter
After Flashing the BIOS and installing my 7800GTX i seem to have a problem bringing my 9300 out of standby.
If i close the lid itenters standby mode, if i open the lid it starts to resume windows but then turns off!
I don't get to see anything on the display all i see is the Hdd light start flickering, the hard drive spin up and then as if i've held the power button in it turns off!
Could this be a driver issue? or is it likely to be an issue runing the xps BIOS on a 9300??
Although it's not a majour issue, the standby function is a really usefull feature that i make a lot of use of.

If there is some kinda issue then i guess there must be some one else having this problem.

join the club, It seems to happen to everyone that flashed to the xps bios, seems to be a slight difference in the boards that won't let you use standby, do a search you'll see lots of the same senario.

There is a hotfix available, but you have to ask microsoft tech support to send it to you. Awesome, huh?

Simplyphp.. do you have a link or anything for this hotfix? Also.. I dont use standby but I do use Hibernate. Does the XPS BIOS upgrade affect this feature also or is it just Standby?

In my experience, it's just been standby that broke after the XPS bios flash. Hibernate works fine here. Simplyphp, if you could please send that hotfix over or at least reference the KB article that would be extremely awesome and helpful. If it's not too large we could probably put it up someplace for others to download.

The hotfix is for Hibernate with over 1GB RAM, you have to get a special passworded download from MS Support and it is only 'good to install' for seven days

well i have yet to install my 7800gtx(doing it later tonight after class), but i have already flashed to the XPS A01, then to XPS A05. My standby is working fine, ive tried it 3-4 times and no problems. Now i guess this could change after i install the 7800gtx, but i guess we will see.

well, mine wasn't working, I decided to format and reinstall windows yesterday just for the heck of it and low and behold now my standby is working, It almost makes me wonder if its the old drivers from the 9300 causing some problems

Standby

After I installed my 7800, I had it come out of stanby and have a blank screen. That only happened once and haven't had a problem since. I flashed the ao1 then ao5 b4 I ever installed the card. it might just come down to in what order you installed certain things. I have seen that happen b4, where you had to install certain drivers etc in order or it will be screwed up. Mine seems to be fine. I didn't ever try the A04 bios though. Maybe it's in that version.
