Need bios update for 4750

Thread Starter
1. My 4750 has the original bios 1.00 or something like that.
How can I get an update? I can't find it on the Sager site.

2. I tried to burn some 8x DVD+r disks and it didn't recognise them. Is there some kind of bois update available for the DVD burner?

Thanks.

Send me your email and I'll send you a 4750 BIOS. You just pick which you want:

1.03, 1.04, 1.05, 2.02, 2.04.

You also need the flash utility.

Depends on which burner do You have. My D470K is equipped with
Pioneer DVR-K14L. There was no problems with this burner until
I've burned about 60 DVD's. Then it failed to recognize all kinds of
DVD-R media, even those burned by him earlier with no problems.
I've found the firmware upgrade for this burner on
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.ph...&manufactor=25
but upgrading of the firmware from v.1.0 to v.1.1 did not help.
Moreover, now it often reads previously burned DVD+R and even CD's with errors as well.
I suspect that these phenomena are caused simply by the fact
that the lens of the burner became dirty and I have to buy some kind of
cleaning CD/DVD. Or, may be, to clean the lens manualy, but I do not
know what kind of cloth is suitable for the purpose.

Just out of curiousity, what is the change from 2.02 to 2.04? I have 2.02, but haven't heard anything about 2.04. Is there anything worth upgrading?

I'd also like to have copies of the 2.x BIOS updates with flashing application. Please send me a PM if you have them.

Thanks!

Anyone got 2.04?

Anyone got 1.05 or 2.04? 2.02 seems to lock up a lot more than 1.05 did... thanks

You can read about my horrific experience with 2.04 here:
http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=137553
So you are to think twice or more before trying to replace
any older version with 2.04!

I've been sending the Bios package to several of you (yes, even Spookymonster)

I can send instead the 2.04 by itself. I will do so right away actually.

By the way: I am running with BIOS 2.04 very confortably and stably.

As a matter of fact, I just ordered a Turion ML-44 to replace my 3700+. And I'll let you guys know if 2.04 allows the newer Turion CPU to work.

Guys;

Please let me know if you received the 2.04 BIOS. I also can send the 2.02 for anyone who wishes to give it a try. The 2.02 has served me well for a good couple of months before I got the 2.04.

Msantos,
Got the bios. I'll update tonight. Hopefully, this'll address the intermittent lockups I'm getting since upgrading from 1.4.

I wait for your ml-44 review with baited breath. If it works for you, I'm going to see about swapping my 3400+ out as well. Nothing like a 30% performance boost (and 50% heat reduction) to bring some life back to an 'old' box!

Bios update went fine, but still getting the occasional lockup. I think it might be something to do with Paltalk.

Any update on the ML-44 upgrade?

The CPU is still in transit. It should arrive any day and when it does I'm popping it right in. If it works, I'll write a comprehensive review on the "upgrade".

If it does not work then I will start pestering Sager again for a supporting BIOS update.

Still did not get the CPU yet. Its been shipped via "Ground". I suspect it will arrive sometime next week.

Anyhow, I emailed Mark at Eurocom and asked if I should update my "Python D470K" 1.04 BIOS to install a Turion. Here's his answer:

You require bios Ver. 2.02 , which is on our web site, for Turion.

: D470K support Turion CPU รจ AMD Mobile TurionTM 64(35W Low power), ML-30/ ML-34/ ML-37(1.6GHZ 1.8GHZ / 2.0GHZ) uPGA 754 Package Processor (1MB L2 cache) AMD Mobile TurionTM 64(35W Low power), ML-28/ ML-32(1.6GHZ / 1.8GHZ) uPGA 754 Package Processor (512KB L2 cache)

Well, this settles the proverbial question about a CPU upgrade for our 4750's. Since I have been operating BIOS 2.04 for a while now, all I have to do is install the CPU.

When I do, I'll post a review on a separate thread with photos and all. Stay tuned.

bios

I would like the new bios as well. Just a quick question, why doesn't sager post it on their site? You have to call some 800 number and speak with someone with sub par English to get it... sounds like a pain. My email is gitargr8 AT yahoo DOT com. Thanks.

I'd love to have the BIOS update too, 2.02 or 2.04. Lockup issues seemed to have decreased a bit, but won't go away. PM sent

Thanks.

BIOS 2.0X and the new Turions !!!

Well, the Turion CPU ML-44 has arrived.

Anyhow, I will try it out at the office and see how it works. Over the weekend I will probably write a review with pictures detailing how Bios 2.02 and 2.04 fare in recognizing the newer Turions.

Stay tuned if you are interested. I will be placing the review (pictures and benchies) on the Sager's reviews forum.
