You basically have three options:

1) BIOS (if your BIOS supports it)

2) ClockGen or similar (if you know what kind of clock generator is on your mobo)

3) Pin mod

usually i start by not typing every other letter in caps.

Stop when you see SmOkE.

Do you have a way to monitor temps? If so, just slowly crank the FSB, run stability tests, and watch the temps.

Intels usually have quite a bit of headroom. I took mine up to 4.2GHz on air cooling.

or, if you want to destroy the processor even quicker:

4) Smack it with a hammer.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure the CPU has built-in thermal protection, but I don't know about hammer protection. Try it and get back to us.

If you ask questions about how to overclock, then you are not ready to overclock yet. Go do your homework/research and come back.

Sorry to breathe life back into this thread, but I'm looking to try and overclock this little Vaio desktop of mine. It has an Asus motherboard, with a P68, Williamette, A80528 (straight from Everest HE) at 1.3 GHz. Socket 423, Chipset is i850 (back in the days of RDRAM), the reported motherboard name is WMT-LE. Is there a Clockgen for this, or any other way of uping performance of this baby without a pinmod? And if pinmod would be the only option for this, how would I get that to work, and what type of an overclock can I expect from that?
