hi

the laptop has mobile celeron m 1.8Ghz socket 478 (Mobile Cel 1.80 GHz 400 MHz 256 KB 478 pin PPGA SL6vh ).

can I upgrade to a pentium 4 processor from ebay. how will I find out the maximum speed my motherboard can take.

Yes more than likely your lappy will take a 735/745/ etc Pent M cpu with no big problem....I know someday I'm gonna upgrade the 1.4 Cel M in my VGN-A140.
