I need some advice on the V4000t. I will most likely be ordering the V4000t tonight and I need your help.
I noticed that the battery does not run all the way across the back of the notebook.
1.Does this cause a wobbling issues with the 12 cell battery?
2.Do you V4000t owners have any regrets?
3.What set up did you guys get?
4.How portable is this laptop?
5.Is it easy to type on?
6.How's your gaming expirence/Have you played Battlefield 2?
7.Do scratches show up easily on this laptop/Blemishes?
8.Is the DV4000 worth the extra cost?

Thats all the questions that I can think of right know. Please help me. This will be my first laptop.
Thanks
Tim Utecht

I purchased the bare bone Celeron v4000t. Upgraded the ram to 1gb. It plays Battlefield 2 good. I play WoW on it too. No regrets so far. It has the 40g 4200rpm hard drive, however, it still has an 8mb buffer. So I would assume performance would be better then a 5400rpm 2mb buffer. I only have the 6cell so I cannot comment on the battery. I have some scratches in the top of mine, but I abuse it (only paid $699). The keyboard is great too.

Thanks for the reply jkomp. I am very excited about this laptop. The more I hear about it the more I want it. Did it take alot of work to put scraches into the laptop? I know it is a strange question. Who purposely puts scraches into a laptop.

These are the specs. I want. Does it sound good?
Price:$1,175.62
Operating System:Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition with SP2
Processor:Intel(R) Pentium(R) M Processor 750 (1.86 GHz)
Display:15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
Graphics Card:128MB ATI MOBILITY(TM) RADEON(R) X700
Memory:256MB DDR2 SDRAM (1x256MB)
Hard Drive:80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
Primary CD/DVD Drive:DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
Networking:Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG & Bluetooth(TM)
Primary Battery:12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Should I get Bluetooth or is it just a waste? I would use bluetooth for a mouse. Other than that I don't know what I would use it for.
I would buy ram off of new egg. Since I am a newb to laptops I must ask what ram should I be buying?
I hope I order tonight!

Hey Timu!

I'm very happy with mine. I got 2x512mb of G-Skill PC4200 from Newegg. So far it works great. I too have the 6-cell so I can't comment on the 12. But a buddy of mine has the v2000 or some version of that. And his he likes his 12-cell. I got the matted screen cause I didn't want the glare. And I think it is very beutiful! Anyway, I like the set up you have listed. I think I would probably get the same if I did it again. But For me the 12-cell would not be nesesary. And I like it sitting flat. Anyway, good luck!

You're gonna love it.

P.S. It plays BF2, HL2, UT2k4, Sam2, DCFinal, WoW very well I think. But not as good as my x800pro on my desktop.

WonderDude,
I know I can't wait to get it. When I get ram won't I need to get PC533. I am not quite sure how ram all works. Is there a good guide to ram on Newegg?
I can't wait to play BF2 on this laptop!!!

I played BF2 on meddium res with 2x512MB of Ram.

I've read that 12 cell battery doesn't cause wobbling issues on dv4000. You'll be fine with it.

I thought I might as well max out at 2GB of ram from the start, but I not for sure if these will work.
If I order my laptop today it will make my day perfect since I was just accepted into my college of first choice!

Either one of those should work great!! But remember, if you want to run Dual channel mamory, you will eventually need to get two of them.

The 12-cell doesn't wabble at all. Fairly comfortable to type on.

Portable, with the 12-cell, it's a tad heavy, probably close to 7lbs. Carrying it in a messenger bag feels even worst if you're carrying other books with it. Get a backpack, it'll feel more comfortable.

I'm gonna look for nice backpack soon. (Perhaps another crumpler)

Gaming, CSS stress test shows around 90fps at 1280x800 at medium settings. The only real gaming I've done on it is AoE II. (lol) I mainly game on my desktop

I think I am going to do a review right away. The only problem is I have a crappy digital camera. I guess I will try to take some pictures.
My laptops expected ship date is Feb 8. I was hoping I would have gotten it sooner.
