I think maybe you can get some money off your purchase if you are ordering your system by calling Dell. I have read 1 or 2 threads in this & other forums about such success stories. I guess you will have to be lucky to get hold of a "generous" sales rep & also be a good & sweet talker!!! I think you might be able to pull it off but I myself just S***s at pursuasive talking so I don't think I can pull it off & my best option is through the Dell website. Anyway, good luck.

Depending on how much your order is for; they can in fact take off up to $150. I've had them offer it to be multiple times. Generally when you are ordering a cheaper system it's more around $50.

Configured XPS 600 online w/ 10% off. Called to order and talked the salesperson down another 12%.

if you call me, i'll give you some money back...but you first have to comit to chatting for 2 hours at regular price.

oh, you meant buying a dell.

it never hurts to ask. none of us can tell you if dell is going to give you more off over the phone or not. EXECUTE, EXECUTE, EXECUTE, instead of slumming asking questions among the squamulose laggards (of which i am one). then you'll have your final answer.

If you are outside of the United States then phoning may be your best option. For me, in Canada, phoning got me $200 more off than any crappy Canadian coupon could have offered. But, yeah, if you are in the USA go with the online coupons.

I called in for an XPS desktop and told them I wouldn't pay more than $3 grand for it. I had worked the coupon thing and the lowest I could get it was $3200. The sales guy gave me a more feature rich XPS for $2800 eg dual tv tuner, and some software goodies. I think you can get a better deal when you call in depending on the amount you're going to spend. If you're buying a $499 DESKTOP don't expect much, but A high end machine will get you a better chance.

Without coupons, my M60 would have been around $3000 at time of purchase... $2200 over the phone.
