Dumb Reinstall Question

Thread Starter
After hosing my hard drive, and reinstalling from a WinXP Pro disc, I notice a lot of stuff missing in Device Manager.

Especially the NIC card, USB controllers, etc.

I can't even get on the net with out the NIC drivers.

Where do I find these puppies?

Which display device does the 9300 have? I'm getting the drivers from the dell site at the moment.

Those display drivers are for external displays. You don't need to DL a driver for yours as the MS driver is utilised.

Ok cool, another problem. I installed the 2200BG drivers but now the program says no combatible adapters found in the system???

Actually, I think the 2200BG was just the program thingie, i need to install the WLAN drivers...(US?)

now that I know it's just a program, should I even have it installed or just use window's utility for wireless networks?

EDIT: OK I CAN"T get the damn wireless card to work and get recognized so I can get internet. I have the 2200BG wireless card. What precisely should I install?

Also: I'm planning to install the Omega mobility drivers to go w/ my X300. What do you think is best?

Help on Install. One more time..

After reinstalling the drivers, my computer now thinks the USB 2 port(s) are USB 1.

Obviously I messed up.

Can someone point me toward the right driver?

Duh / Sorry

Can someone point me toward the right driver<<<

Must have been the chipset.

That being said, isn't there something I could run after this reinstall to guarantee I have the right Dell stuff on there??

I've done all the proper WinXP upgrades, etc.

Well, I guess I must have forgot the chipset first. This was my second of two installs, and for some reason, I guess I just spaced it out because of the first one or something.

That being said, I did reinstall the chipset after installing various other things. And / But all seems humming along now.

Can I get messed up "down the road" by not installing the chipset first? I'd like to stay with what I have (just finished installing HL2, ugh!)

Thanks. Cause this baby is "hummin" and I'm like, 95% reinstalled.

Really don't want to start from scratch again (at least not for 6 months!!)

LOL.
