Two Monitors??

Ok, I understand that oyu can use another monitor that you plug into the vid card on the back of the lappy, which I have done. But it just shows the exact same thing on both screens, wonder if i want something going on, on one screen, and something else on the other? Is this possible, and if so how?

goto the properties screen and click on the balck square labled 2 and tell it to expand your desktop to both screens and there you have it you should have 2 different dektops.
