Builtin/Internal TV Tuner

Does the I9400/E1705 come with a built-in HDTV tuner?
I am trying to configure my I9400 on the Dell Australia [Asia Pacific] site ... but no mention of any TV tuner.

Just asking as someone in this forum mentioned something about a TV tuner inside the Dell I9400.

Cheers.

I believe the tv tuner is external/usb. You can configure it on the web if you shop for the e1705 on the home office site in the US. Dont know if you can do that in australia. Perhaps if you configure it over the phone with a sales rep. you probably can get one.

Or you can buy one yourself from somewhere else (one that's probably better than the dell one) if you wanted. You might want to try getting media center edition if you do that.

Thanks for your reply, Ms Super Secret Agent.
I was hoping for an internal TV tuner card. Like you said, we can get much better external TV tuner cards (and cheaper too) elsewhere.

Another thing: not sure if there are any miniPCI express TV tuners out there.
The I9400 no longer uses the PCMCIA standard right?

Cheers.

The ASUS W2000V has a little miniPCI card with an Hybrid TV-Tuner for DVB-T. You only need a extern antenna and maybe a PAL-->NTSC converter-box.

If the ASUS tuner is Mini-PCI, it wouldn't be compatible with the smaller Mini-PCIe form factor of your I9400.

I would recommend just getting a slingbox so you could watch TV wirelessly!

Yep, it uses Expresscard and not PC cards. Deadstone posted somewhere else about this expresscard tuner:

P.S. From your other thread, I cant wait until season 5 resumes again too
