Right,

I have now received my laptop but unfortunately are going away for the weekend and so am unable to do the promised benchmarking. Will complete this as soon as I get back (next week!!) and log the results in this thread. For now I got it out of the box and was surprised to see that it looks like they replaced the old one (new case, new video card, new screen etc etc.
I didnt use 3D mark at all i have taken everyones advise and chucked Call of Duty on it straight away. I installed the game. Then turned everything on full (1600 res, insane bodycount, every option on highest available). The results were awesome. as smooth as ice so far although I havent completed the training missions yet as I am at work. But it is a lot better than I expected. The only issue I can see is that when I play a song in itunes or media player and have the visualizer in a window rather than full screen it runs really slowly. Full screen it runs fine though?? Anyway I shall get back to everyone when I come back from my short hol and do a proper benchmarking of this laptop!!

Sounds good to me,i've just spent ages tweaking adrenaline to get a 3DMark 2001 score of 10425 and 2003 score of 3001.Heavily tweaked to 421.61 engine clock and 240.92 memory clock.I've got to say,i was expecting a better result on default so not too happy with this considering the price!!!
Games run ok though on 1024/768 just going to try call of duty and Knights of the old republic on full spec, lets wait and see!!!!

Tried both on 1600/1200 res and full graphics and both run fine at the mo,little bit of slow down on knights when screen gets full, but not too bad.Still not happy with a default drivers no overclocking 3DMark 2001 score of 90074 and 2003 of 2597.Anyone any similar results or ideas of the problem. Also getting grainy DVD playback?

I have to admit that when I first bought the Alienware laptop i got a very poor 3dmark score. The problem was that 3dmark just tests the graphics card and not the overall performance of the computer. With this in mind it is no wonder that the 9600 mobility does not get as higher score as the 9700 pro and above cards. You must remember that this in no way is a mark of the performance of the graphics card. I have now run lots of games on my laptop on 1600 res with everything on full with no problems whatsoever. I have not even started tweeking my card either (please be aware that I am replying whilst on holiday so I am in no position to do the benchmark I promised, I am just replying to the thread thats all!!!).

Will be back soon!!!
