Fusion 5 USB questions

Thread Starter
I am getting real close to buying one of these but I have a few questions I couldn't seem to find the answer to. I am hoping one of you that already has one can answer these:

1) Does the actual tuner get hot?
I ask this because I hope to use the tuner both as a tuner(obviously) but also to prop up the rear of my 9300 for better airflow. Looking at pics it appears to almost be the perfect size for this, but If it gets real hot this would not be a wise idea.

2) What resolution can it record HDTV at?
I can't seem to find this anywhere, not on Dvico site or in any review. Can it record at 720p? I see it can record multiple formats, just not at what quality.

3) What kind of proc usage does it take when recording?
I have heard HD recording can be very CPU intensive. Since this is my htpc, I would be rather annoyed if I couldn't use the computer while recording a show.

One of the main reasons I am going this route is that I need to get over the air CBS HD. I currently have Comcast with an HD box. Unfortunately in my area (Portland OR) there has been a 5 year dispute between the local CBS affiliate parent company and Comcast. Because of this Comcast doesn't provide CBSHD. Thats right folks that means NO HD SUPERBOWL! (Go Seahawks!) It also means no HD March Madness!(Go Gonzaga!)

1) No, it doesnt get hot.

2) It records at the hdtv streams native resolution. 1080i files are captured @ 1920x1080. Saved as mpeg, it equates to roughly 5gb an hour @ 1080i.

720p files are captured at 1280x720. The quality is outstanding.

3) Cpu utilization isnt horrible at all, reasonable in fact. I dont have my 9300 with me so I cant give exact figures right now.

Im not sure how much multitasking effects recording, but I assume it could effect recording latency at times. I would be too paranoid to mess with it if it was a show I truly wanted to record without risk.

I highly recommend the fusion 5 usb. The only glaring bug that pokes me in the eye is the fubar scheduled Qam recording that they are supposed to have been fixing for the last 2 months.

I've enjoyed using my Fusion however I have 2 questions...

1. I find that in fullscreen mode (1920x1200 wuxga) it jumps and I get a lot of pausing. I simply cant watch it in fullscreen mode because of it. As a result I've had to adjust the size of the window to 1920x1200 .. not in fullscreen mode (those of you who have it will know what I mean here) ... and it works fine. Any suggestions on this?

2. I have a number of 1 and 2 hour recordings as as Lith1um stated they are about 5Gigs per hour. Anyone have any suggestions on how to save these to DVD to view on a DVD and TV? I've simply been unable to get it to work using Nero.

Does fullscreen stutter with both dxva and non-dxva?

Im not having any issues with stutter.

9300/1.86/1gb/go6800/uxga

Im using 81.98, when I installed the fusion software I selected the "Pentium4 + Nvidia MX440, FX or above" option. Dvico was kinda cryptic about that.
