9300 and LCD TV advice

Hi All. I have just purchased a LCD HDTV and im trying to connect my laptop to it so that i can test some HD clips i've downloaded. I need some advice about connections....

My laptop has got :

S-video output
standard VGA monitor port
DVI port

My TV has got :

S-vdeo
HDMI
standard VGA port

I know i can get a DVI - HDMI cable but these cost about £50 which im not willing to spend just so that i can test hd clips

I've tried the s-video port but the res won't get higher then 640x480 which i believe is normal.....what do other people in this situation do ?

I use a dvi-analog to vga cable. I am not sure if this is what you are looking for though. Where did you download the HD clips from so that I may test my HDTV as well?

Get a vga to vga cable, which has the 15 pin analog connector on both ends. That's what I'm using right now.
