SATA Drivers for E1705 Question?

Hey Guys

For those of you who got their new E1705 notebooks, do you have any information on the Availability of SATA Drivers. I am doing a hardcore search on the web, but so far no luck. I even checked Dell's website and I did not find any drivers for SATA. If anybody knows anything about this subject, please help. I really need those drivers for my Unattended CD. I will post my findings when I get them.

There are no drivers, you can do a stright OS install with out any special drivers.The install process works just like the 9300.

So when I install XP, I don't need SATA Drivers. So we can say that Desktop SATA and Notebook SATA Drivers are different. I know, cause I have a Desktop Intel 875PBZ and evertime I install XP, I need SATA Drivers. So that why I intergated them in XP Cd itself. But with the 945 Chipset, I can use the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Right? Can Intregate these drivers in the XP.
Also can I use the Floppy Configuration Utility - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21) Check it out!

I installed a fresh copy of Win XP Pro on my 9400 this weekend and didn't use any SATA drivers. You can just use any XP CD and you'll be fine.

XP SP2 I think has SATA built in. Least I didn't need a driver disk for my NVIDA based SATA built into my desktop system.

I installed my lappy from a WinXP + SP1 CD (added SP2 later on), and that also worked just fine.

You need always drivers for the i915M chipset. They are only included in XP.
And the new intel inf chipset update how to configure the chipset proberly that SATA and other things works.

Hmmm. Ok my point was that to install the OS there are no external sata driver required. Sure once the OS is installed then yes you need the chipset drivers etc..

Sorry if I wasnt clear enough about that.

Just to Quote Zyb, that what I am asking. WHat if you have a brand new hard drive and you want to install XP on it, we don't need the SATA Drivers to tell XP and I am using a SATA Drive. Like I said before, I had a desktop and everytime I need to Install XP, I need to give XP the Drivers it needs to know that I am using a SATA HD.

So far by reading all the responds, I understand that I notebook doesn't need the SATA Drivers. That that could only mean one thing that The drivers somehow are intergated in the BIOS or somewhere else. I know for a FACT that XP doesn't have SATA Drivers in it. That why I made my own XP Unatteded CD and intergated my Drivers into XP. So everytime INstall XP, I don't need to Push the F6 Button, it just goes on and continues installing.

Maybe it depends on the SATA chipset you're using? Some chipsets might be supported by XP and some others might not.

The key here is that OEM vendors have the ability to include any Microsoft Signed driver they chose with there media. My best guess is that Dell has included the SATA driver on the OEM MCE media that they ship.
