Help: ThinkPad 600E doesn't turn On

A friend of mine has an old IBM 600E, it was working fine. But one day we removed the CD-Rom and the battery, and when we putted them back we found out that the laptop won't turn On.

When we turn the laptop on, the screen remains black, and then we can hear 3 beeps, but the screem remains black. If we press ESC the laptop makes another beep.

Please, help us! We have another two lappys (Toshiba and HP), but we need these one too!

Thanks in advance.

Now I know what the 3 beeps are, the CMOS battery is dead.

I conected an external monitor to the laptop and I was able to see that the beeps where asking me to introduce the date and hour. I did it and then unplugged the external monitor and restarted. It didn't work. I pluged the external monitor again and I was able to load windows.

Now I know that the screen won't turn on if I don't plug and unplug an external monitor first.

Is there a way I can fix this???

Thanks.
