Welcome bobi1b.
Which state are you in? (I am in Melbourne BTW.)

I am getting a fully-specced Dell I9400 - very similar to yours except with the following extras:

o 2x 9 cell primary batteries
o 2x AC adapters
o Bluetooth module
o 2 Gb DDR2 667 MHz RAM
o Carbon fibre Quicksnap colour kit
o Theft + accidental damage cover

All coming to an hefty $4600 AUD.
So, I am playing the waiting game to see if there are any coupons out there that I can apply for my I9400 purchase. Otherwise, the entire system is far too expensive for me.

I would order my I9400 as soon I can get the price down to just under $4K.

Cheers.

Cool, I'm also in Melbourne Australia and my i9400 is coming in two days .
It's got a 2.16GHz procesor, 1 GB of ram, 80GB 7200rpm and is worth $4000 although my dad can get a huge discount from his work.

Awesome. Maybe we should create an Aussie I9440 Owners Club.

Looks like I can get EPP after all via my uni!
I just recently graduated - so, I have until end of February before my uni e-mail account is gone ... So, I better send in my order soon.

Hey Rafehi, what sort of discounts are you getting from your dad's workplace?

I can only get up to 8% discount ... which brings the price down to ~ $4232 AUD.

Did you guys have any luck with any coupon codes?
Cheers.

no luck with coupons; but i did bring the price down 500$ by just talking to the guy, maybe should have pushed for some extras like the bluetooth and the theft waranty as well. He was going to upgrade to a 2.16 for an extra 200 bucks but i didn't take it. At around 4600 you should be able to get 700-800 dollars off it by just finding the right sales person and haggling.
Hmmm, should have tried to use my Uni discount, but i doubt they would have allowed me take both (would they?).

Ps: live in sydney

He works at Ford (don't know if its exclusive to ford employees) and could get around 50% off a Dell laptop

Umm, how on earth did you get the option of selecting the T2500 CPU (2.0 GHz)?

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/prod...=au&l=en&s=dhs

See the above URL: you only have two options from the Dell AU/AP site:
T2600 (2MB Cache, 2.16 GHz, 667MHz FSB) ||
T2300 (2MB Cache, 1.66 GHz, 667MHz FSB)

So I am wondering how you managed to order the T2500?

I might try that approach. Thanks.

That is a very sweet deal. So, did you get the 50% discount when you ordered as part of Ford EPP straight away?

In the end, how much did your I9400 cost, and what are the specs like?
Man! with a 50% discount you should be able to get 2 Gb of DDR2 667 MHz RAM straight from Dell.

Cheers.

Yeh I know, but he wanted to get Office Basic with that money instead. Not sure exactly what the final price was, but somewhere about $2000-2200.
Specs:
Core Duo 2.16 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB
17 Inch ultra sharp UXGA 1920x1200
1 gig (2x512) DDR2 ram (533 i think, though not sure)
Geforce go 7800
80GB 7200RPM harddrive
Bluetooth

Personally, I think the hard drive selection is fine about 5400 rpm, unless, you are a extreme multi person or video editing, etc. then get it. Otherwise, I think the additional cost of those hard drive could be used to get other things.
