Questions about W3v

i was wondering if the asus w3v takes micro dimm memory or any standard memory.

and i have read about the backup battery for the dvd burner or player, is this true and has anybody bought a backup for it?

and a 2nd HD that can be swappable?

but yeah, i really like the look of this machine and it can perform decent from what i have seen.

1) It takes regular DDR-II SO-DIMM. No need for micro SO DIMM.
2) Yes, you can buy a optical bay battery...thereby using two batteries at once to increase overall battery life.
3) You can also put a second hard drive in the optical bay... yes, technically, it is "swappable"

umm on my w3v i can hot swap the battery, the dvd drive, and the hard drive with no problems (so its not technically[i think you were trying to imply that it doesn't work]... it is atleast for mine anyways)

hi guys,
i was just wondering how u hotswap the hd in the optical bay? would you need some sort of case/tray to slide it in?

thanks
There is no link. This is a dealer item its not really sold in a parts catalog....you have to basically ask for it...
The modular bay is exactly what it sounds like. It takes proprietory asus modules like the optical drive, second harddrive kit, second battery or traveler drawer.

well i have a padded laptop backpack but it is just foam and provides no real protection except what little the foam provides, i am hoping with a hard cover sleeve (i didn't even know they existed untill i saw them in this page) it would provide more protection in my backpack

15 inch backpack are the ones your probably have to use, the w3 is as long as most 15 inches it just an inch or so shorter on the width

BUT if someone could fine a hard cover sleeve for it then you could just get a regular back pack

hi there. did you try your w3v in that thing? i just contacted semsons about my z63a, asked them about any of the vypers fitting my lappy and they recommended the one in the link you provided. so i might order that unless you tried your lappy and didn't fit. can you let me know if it fits or if you tried it at all. thanx.
