I just got my 9300 on Friday, and I love the hell out of it. It is fantastic.

RAM - Buy 2GB on newegg.com for cheap
Graphics Card - You could consider buying the cheapest available (128mb if its "FREE!") and upgrade to a 7800 GTX or 6800 Ultra, see stickied thread above

Have you checked Dell Outlet and the usual places for coupon codes etc.?

if you do not want to go as big as the 7800 or 6800 ultra, you could always buy a regular 6800 also! if you get the 6800, you wont need to do the bios flash and it will just drop in w/o modification

So is the 9 cell and faster CPU worth the extra money??

New 9300

I got my new 9300 (w x300) last week.

After testing and working with the book I can say: You do not really need the faster CPU. The 1,86 GHZ CPU is fast enough. 9 Cell means 30 % more battery life. I think it's worth it. In my book is the BT-Chip too. Very useful to synchronize data with a handy or even to use a BT-Mouse.

Only the 5400 rpm HD slows down the system a little. Okay, there is a 7200 rpm Hitachi available. But look at the price.

RAM: it was already said, but just get the minimum from dell and buy 1GB stick(s) online, as low as $50 ea. after rebate

Processor: Get the cheapest. In most circumstances a couple hundred MHz aren't going to be noticable. Also keep in mind the popular pin-mod (see sticky) you can buy a 1.7GHz(400FSB) processor from ebay for ~140 and clock it to 2.26GHz for a much better value.

Video Card: If you don't play games, get the cheapest. If you do... get the cheapest, then mod it with a 6800ultra (~200 ebay) or a 7800GTX (~400 dell/ebay), you'll also have to shell another $120 for the 9cell batt and power supply. Which brings me to...

Battery: A 9 cell on ebay goes for around $80. Get the basic 6cell from dell. If you want the 9cell, you can get it from ebay for the same price and also have a spare.

Good luck
