Precisely the reason why ive been saying all along that people should not buy these lappies right away, the kinks are not worked out yet, that will take some time, personally id rather get some use out of my 9300 while the bugs are ironed out, not to mention vista isnt out yet and when it is.........more bugs. Which is why I scratch me head wondering why people wanna throw away a less than a year old lappy for the latest buggy/greatest. Really the first batch of core duo is only available to the high tier vendors like dell for example, merom will be coming out right on top of it which means your hard earned cash would serve you better collecting interest while you collect some information.

You can make this same argument with the Merom release scheduled for Q3 of 2006. It will almost certaily have its share of bugs and a completely new platform for Merom (code-named Santa Rosa) will be arriving in the Q2 of 2007.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

This is like a never ending story. "Don't buy the next product because there will be something else after it."

Ehhm, if *we* massively don't buy Yonah, as some here are suggesting, there will probably not even be a Merom, or it will be much, much later. Don't you all realise that new technology needs to be consumed for even newer technology to be developed?

Instead of callig us suckers, please take a moment to realise we're financing the development of your Merom. I'm really happy for you to be so overjoyed with your 9300, but please do realise not everyone is trading in a year-old lappy and not everyone already has a 9300 to begin with. For some (or maybe even most) of us, the 9400 is what the 9300 might be for you. Why don't you just act like your name and cut the cr@p. I may be stepping out of line here, but I notice your name in a lot of posts regarding the Code Duo and you keep posting negative, non-constructive stuff. I find this annoying. Try to accept the fact that the 9300 suits your needs and the 9400 suits the needs of others.

Oh, and that reference to Vista. What's up with that? Vista is *so* not related to the subject.

And finally about the Core Duo / Napa platform being buggy... Please name one platform that is completely bugfree. I dare you.

Troll alert!! This guy is so full of the big brown stuff. I bet he bought his 9300 the week before the 9400 was announced.

Cutters get back to the 9300 forum where you belong.....lol.....and BTW our bug ridden 9400 can still kick your 9300's ass!!

You really appear to have no idea of how business works. You think that Merom will not come about just because too few people buy a core duo? You have to be kidding me. This product has been in development FAR before the release of the latest dual core offering, and will come out Q3, unless there is some catastrophic failure somewhere along the line. And sure, if there are bugs with the latest batch of processors that cause merom to be pushed back, then GOOD. At least they will be addressed and a better product will be released. Just because the Itanium (err Itanic as it is more commonly known) tanked didnt prevent the production of the Xeon processors. You're totally out of line with your holier-than-thou attitude, like you're doing people a friggin favor by buying your dual core processor when actually you're screwing us by raising demand and keeping the prices from dropping. Thank you for your valuable contribution [/sarcasm]

Hehe, you really don't think I'm holier than thou art?

Still I think I'm right (to some extent). Of course the first few Yonah products will not make or break Merom development, but think of the big picture. If everybody would always wait until technology was proven, who would do the proving? That's like never giving out a round at the pub but loving it when your friends give out a round.

And the high prices on the first batch(es) of Yonah products is probably still meant to pay off some part of the huge development costs for Yohan. If Intel would consistently *not* sell new processors they wouldn't keep developing at the rate they are right now. Sure, they will always keep busy...

And on a more general note, advising against a certain product just because it is new isn't always very insightfull. The same is true for the opposite. Buying something just because it is new can also be considered silly, but if you're in the market and the 9400 offers what you're looking for, why not?

OK now everyone who does think I'm holier:

actually, the best laptop to buy right now is a 9300.

I'd have done that, but my bro wants a wuxga, which is no longer an option.
