Upgradability of Solo Core?

Is it possible to upgrade the solo core to duo CPU? I read a post saying that the solo is the exact same cpu as the Doth. M? Can someone confirmed? If so that means the motherboards are different (solo and duo)? Solo M/B and i9300 different or same? what's the max OC of the 7800go? Is the footprint/pinout battery same as xps2/m170/9300? Much thanks.

you should be able to upgrade a solo processor as it uses the new 945 chipset and same socket as the core duo processor. It is NOT the same as the current generation dothans, as it is made on a 65nm technology where dothan was 90nm, so 9300 != 9400 and solo != dothan.

yup. u can upgrade to a dual core coz they all use the same chipset.

however, u shd get the 7800 option, because if u get the integrated chipset, i dont htink u can upgrade to the 7800 later on.

Thanks for the info. What do you think the upgrade cost to duo 1.7+ CPU now to the next 2 yrs? I didn't see it on pricewatch.com. thanks.

Do you know why Dell doesn't have the option to select duo/solo cpu from the dropdown list (as they do for all upgradable/available cpu for all other models), but treat the duo as a different model? Thanks.

good question, i guess its because its "duo core" is more than a clcok speed upgrade?

Option to upgrade the integrated GPU to 7800go is a lot more than clock speed upgrade but that is selectable.

btw, Dell.com said that the battery are the same e1705/9300/xps2/m170. Thanks.
