Gaming performance on 17" Gateway?

The S-7700N laptop from Gateway boasts a 256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 video card. What kind of performance would this give in Half-Life 2? It'd be sweet to be able to max everything out, but I don't know if there's a card available that could even do that. Any ideas?

i had everything maxed out on HL2 on my 7422 and got fair performance (wasnt really enough tto play on, about 14-22 FPS, though that was with the HDR demo so it was doing more than normal)

that'd do it very well, though im not sure about at the native res of that LCD

Hmm. My 7405gx does ok with HL2 with its 64mb 9600 Radeon. I'm debating upgrading now; I'm going to attempt Compman55's screen fix this week, and if that goes well, I'll probably do a few more mods to my laptop. There aren't a lot of laptops that offer a significant performance increase over my year-old 7405gx; mostly just upgrades in screen size or video card. I'd really like a 14" laptop with a killer screen; a 17" would be great for the work I'm doing now too. I also like the new MacBook Pros, although I'd hesitate to buy "revision 1" hardware.

I wonder if anyone has successfully done a motherboard upgrade from a VooDoo model with 128mb vram
