Well, when the Santa Rosa chipset comes out, there will be a faster system bus and RAM, twice the L2 cache, smaller manufacturing process = cooler running = higher clock speeds, 4-issue cores to speed everything up, enhanced prefetching, most likely hard drives using perpendicular recording, etcetera... All this means much more bandwidth, less latency, and more buffer, which translates to better speed. And like I said, since Vista+DX10+new graphics cards will be out, gaming will be pretty hugely changed... Hopefully 64-bit will mean more when Vista comes out and takes more advantage of its efficiency, as will games. I’ll bet Battlefield 3 will have been out by then too, so who cares about BF2? LOL!
So, uh, in otherwords, it will be a pretty big boost (at least I hope)!
