Wow, is he laying it on thick tonight... - Page 8

Lilfields, you have pointed out one of the reasons I would never vote for Hillary.Socialized health care is a disaster in the making. I know some of you will say it works in the UK and Canada. Socialized medicine spread across the world (including the US) would mean a constriction of money to the drug companies (this would have to happen to control costs) and thus research on treatment of diseases. Drug companies will only do research if they have a good chance of making a healthy profit. If the US went down the socialized road I think it would spell doom. We do need to address major problems with our health system like the requirement that hospitals treat people regardless of ability to pay. That is crazy. Illegals should not be able to get free healthcare. I say slap a bandage on them and deport them immediately.

Health insurance is insanely expensive and I don't know how to address it. I pay enough each month for our clinic medical insurance to buy a new ALX every month. There is something wrong with that picture.

The only way to fix the health care system is to put compitition back into it. Socialized Medicine is exactly the wrong direction. For example, the HMO that I had, and have since dropped, had only one clinic for the speciality I needed. After I jumped thru several hoops, paperwork and assorted bureaucracy, the specialist charged the HMO $165/visit. That speacialist soon went into private practice for $85/visit.
The same medical problem put me in need of an MRI machine. Conversing with the radiologist, I found that the SF Bay Area had 9 MRI's while the whole of Canada only had 3. Had I been living in Canada it would have taken months to get the MRI.
Cuba also Socialized Medicine, where medical care is free for everyone, but its likely the only drug you can get there is asprin and the same doctor that works on you also works on the governments horses and cattle.

I am glad our dear Hammer had the benefit of the US system. I hear they gave him the optional e-p3nis implant free of charge.

It was Washington that didn't like the two party system. Jefferson and Adams split from each other to form the different parties of the day (different from today's parties).
Thanks man, I've always gotten the founders mixed up, especially now that I've been having Russian pounded into my head the past six months.

An' for those who missed it, the State of the Union address is here.

Your correct somewhat....but medical care is a necessity of life and studies have proven over and over that preventative medicine is much better than the secondary approach....I do not like the "socialized" approach either...I do not like anything the Govt regulates as they have proven over and over they are very poor at this but, what are the alternatives....one of the reasons I am taking some time off is to think about the fact that just to "practice" my profession...medicine, I must pay $38,600 per year in Mal-Practice insurance. Ohio is one of the worst states as the Ohio legisture has yet to cap settlement payments thus the high cost, and I have to pay that by Jan 5, every year, in full ,before the insurance goes into effect...it only has a 2 million dollar cap, and in this day and time, that is not near enough...may of my fellow collegues have moved from Ohio to states with caps such as Ill and NY and Pa.....something I am also considering strongly and ...no, I have never been sued or even named in a suit. I am sure your wife has some interesting ideas about this also DB, as you know, she pays mal-practice insurance also..or some type of professional liability....and removing your name from anything you own does not protect you any longer...the new laws that the feds passed 2 yrs ago saw to that...and you wonder why I am so anti republican.....things were much better when Bill was in officce, the last president changed many of the benifits doctors had against large, idiotic settlements by NOT capping this action...now, Canada has just as good, if not better, health care in many areas than do we....the UK is leaps and bounds ahead of the US in drug developement and drugs allowed for terminal illness....why, the FDA is a political organization and its decisions are based upon lobbyist pressure, and drug company contributations to political parties....until this stops, the US quality of health care will continue to decline....and it is declining.....

and DB, no hospital will refuse care to anyone based upon ability to pay...that is not saying illegals can get cosmetic surgery free, it is saying that energency care, especially, is the right of everyone regardless of their ability to pay...I write off tens of thouslands of dollars yearly because of this issue, and I do not really care as I did not entirely go into medicine for the money...it was a big incentive, I admit but I can donate my time just as people do to other worth while causes

Nassau my point is all that "free" medical care is not "free". If we did not have the illegals (whish are a LARGE part of the problem) here sucking up this resource we could prehaps provide a better safety net to those who need it. It is bullshit old folks have to get divorced to get medical care in some situations but some illegal fook can get it.

And God bless doctors and other medical people who donate their time. Our clinic does alot of low cost work for charitable organizations (Human Society, Friends of Felines, etc). I think it is your moral obligation to give back to your community when and where you can.

when I was a programmer for a Georgia Pacific I donated time by installing computers in a "transitional" school for homeless kids. It makes you grateful for what you have.

I agree with you 100% DB....You and your wife sleep better each night knowing you do things like this...I know I do....as you said, illegals are the major part of the problem, I am sure you see more in your part of the country than I do here in Ohio, but none the less....there is much truth in your insight DB.....

Why lock this...it is the general discussion area...does no harrm in my opinion, true...some are dem, and some rep, but I do not see any threats or foul language or reports of negative rep out of this, so I honestly see no harm....but, then again...it serves little purpose...I agree, I guess...maybe off topic like ewolff said....
