AX7 Worth the Money?

Thread Starter
Anyone know if the Aviator AX7 is worth the money*I've had my eyes on the CX7 though*? It looks powerful enough for gaming in high-res, but then I see it only has a ATi 9700. Is this card any good, despite it's age? If anyone has any comments on this machine, or know where a review is, please post them. I'm really looking into getting a machine from Hypersonic but just want to make sure I am getting the best laptop for my money. Thanks

No matter what u get, make sure it has GeforceGo 7800 GTX or don't buy it.

If I had to choose between the AX7 and the CX7, I would go with the CX7 hands down. True - I own one, but there is more to my reasoning. As DB stated, you want to go with the better video card. The CX7 has the 7800 w/ 256mb. The AX7 only has 128mb. So if you are into gaming, or any graphics intensive program, you are not going to have the extra video memory.

The CX7 is much sleaker (thinner) as well.

Good luck on your choices!

I'll Second Ratmyr and DB on that. CX7 or something else as long as it has the 7800 inside. 9700 compared to a 7800 is not a comparison at all. A match between the two would be "serial slaughtera" with the 7800 lightyears ahead.

It's not a fair fight, the AX7 is a few years old now. The processor is still really fast, but the 3d capabilities are not that impressive anymore. If you want amd then go the fx7 route.

I agree. I am surprised that Clevo hasn't released a replacement for the AX7 that is similar to the CX7. Sleak, thin, lighter version of the FX7 - with the 7800 in it. I think that would be a killer system.

Just to add - I don't read all of the perspective/future model threads that appear in the Sager or other forums, so if this type of system is coming out - cool.

But it still would be nice.
