7800go oc to 480/1300?

The difference between 7800 and 7800gtx is the pipelines right? Shouldn't both can OC in similar range? Same RAM? 7800 is underclock. Where can we find the specs of both? Thanks.

There are some older threads in this forum talked about this. Look around

I read several posts/threads but didn't find any that would conclude why the Go 7800 cannot OC as much as the 7800gtx. Again, looking at the specs from nvidia.com both are the same except less pipelines/vertex on the non gtx. From that we might even conclude that the non gtx should be able to OC more since less heat from less pipelines. Has any tried to find the max OC of the 7800 using manual OC and monitor temperature using I9Kguifan? Thanks.

And what about the heatsink? The one in Go 7800 probably dissipates less heat than the one in the XPS.

The 9300 has the same heatsink as the XPS. Dell benefits much more to improve the heatsink or at least use the same ones as their other models not to intentionally make the system generate more heat.
Looking at the benchmark of the 7800 GT (20 pipelines) the fps of Doom3/Quake4/HL2 are close to GTX at the same clock speed. So the Go 7800 at the same speed seems very promising. Thanks.

Thanks.

Go 7800 runs at LESS VOLTAGE and uses SLOWER RAM. It will never come close nor surpass the 7800GTX.

Thanks for the info. Do you know where I can find the voltage and RAM speed info compared w/ the GTX? Voltage can be increase but not RAM. Much thanks.

Voltage is 1.1v instead of 1.3v

RAM is 2.8ns DDR1, i think.

What are you talking about ? The stock GPU heatsink in the i9300 is different to the one in the XPS.

i9300 (X300/6800go) has 1 copper pipe.
XPS (6800UltraGo/7800GTXgo) has 2 copper pipes.

Search the forum and you will find pics ...

Thanks for the correction. Nonetheless, the point I was making is that the 9300 heatsink is sufficient for the 7800gtx OC 500/1300 so 7800 shouldn't be a problem. It would be helpful if ppl could start posting temperature increase vs stock speed to max OC. Much thanks.

could anyone give some links about 7800 go vs 7800gtx go?

Actually when you put the 7800GTX in a 9300 you use the XPS heatsink which has the extra heatpipe.

So far the highest I got the ram to clock on my 7800 is 900Mhz and 375 Core. There is no way the video card dedicated ram would be slower than system ram which is ddr2 at 667 Mhz.

FYI...the i9300 heatsink, and i must assume you are referring to the stock 6800 go heatink that comes with the 9300, will not sufficiently cool the 7800gtx. Hell even the 7800gtx's own heatsink struggles to keep it cool, especially if one oveclocks it. If one were brave enough or even able to oc to 500/1300, say goodbye to the cooling solution, even with as5. MY 7800gtx is oc'd to 440/1200 and it's pushing it. Mr. K6 and others have pushed it further, with the help of elaborate personal modding solutions, but no way near the suggested clocks you suggest.
