I was blown away by the specs and looks of this baby.... so so nice... will replace my work laptop... so i can finally run more than one app at a time.

!??!?!!

Dell i9300 2.0ghz / 2 Gigs of OCZ / 80gb 7200 rpm / GeForce go 7800 GTX / Audigy 2 ZS PCMCIA

What is that? Tell me that is not what you are replacing!

Its what im complimenting....the acer will be my workhorse... i need the power of the 2 cores for database and app server development as well as VMware stuff... the 9300 is pretty much strictly for games and the like...
=/ You are basically spending 2K on the 7800 GTX because the Acer beats the specs of the Dell in almost every other category (minus the 5400 RPM obviously)

He's not getting the 9300.

If I understand correctly, he's getting the 8204 for work, and keeping the 9300 for play.

Exactly...9300 is not new... had for a while... got off the outlet for 1000 and upped it to a 7800 from dell spare parts for $250. And per the 54k drive... its sata where the dell is ata... so it might balance out...

Couldn't take it anymore....

I'll admit it. I'm weak. I couldn't take it anymore. There's no number for Buy.com and they gave me generic canned responses for my "product" being on back order a couple of times. I just wanted a time frame and only an approximate one. Every other company I've talked to will let you know what their system estimates the 8204's time of arriving to them could be. Not with Buy.com So I gave PCMall.com a call. Spoke to someone who said they're new estimated time of arrival is Feb 15th. WHAT!? She said, "do you want to place a pre-order", I laughed and said no thank you. Anyway, I panicked because I'm not prepared to wait a couple more weeks. Chances are Buy.com will get them in a couple of days, but the person who bought my laptop is antsier than I am. I don't want to take the chance. So anyway, I went for broke and ordered it from TigerDirect.com who do in fact have them and I just got my tracking number (they have a dozen or so left if anyone is interested). I'll have it Friday The bigest part that sucks about all this (other than I'm too impatient) is that my hole Saturday is shot and most of my Sunday. If no one else has, I promise to try and at least get pictures up and possibly some video. In a best case scenario I will get a whole review up like I did with my M680. I just want to make sure I have a good feel for it first.

To be continued...

Oh ya, and did I say ,
with a little bit of and a whole lot of

Grats on the new toy. Buy.com sucks when they don't have something in stock (when they do, they are great usually). I had Hitachi HD pre-ordered with them for a month. In that month they had it appear "Available, shipped in 2-4 days" on the actual product page 3 times. In my order it still stayed "Sent request to warehouse" or something like that. I mailed them and called them and they told me they did not have any in stock. Go figure. Cancelled my order after a month of waiting and got another Seagate instead from Newegg And that was not my first "experience" with out of stock items at Buy.com.

Will impatiently wait for pics and review from you. Lappie sure looks cool but I'm not ready to replace my year-old TM8104 yet

When are you expecting yours? By the weekend? I assume that would be ideal.

Sweet. I was suppose to get mine tomorrow, but they messed up and shipped it 2 day air. No biggy as long as I have it by the weekend, and I saved an extra $40+ with the 2 day shipping. I have the Tracking number so I can sleep well tonight

I was going to mention that. I didn't quite know how to do it in a way that didn't make it sound like I have something against Sager because I don't. Heck, I almost bought a 5720 when they first came out. But I have noticed numerous threads of late making reference to Sagers crapping out, or major hard drive failures, or motherboard problems, video problems, sound problems, system died, etc. It's seems to be a lot lately. All notebook manufacturers have their problems and maybe it's a fluke. But what gives?

I know...Ive seen alot to but also needed to ask in a diplomatic way... to each their own... plus I really liked the AMD X2 monsters of rock laptop... but on a similar note I read somewhere that Acer edged out Toshiba in laptop sales at the end of 2005...

It doesn't surprise me that the Acer is doing so well in the notebook market. Earlier in 2005, I couldn't find an Acer notebook in any electronics store around. Then they started popping up in CompUSA, and now they're also available in other stores such as Circuit City. They're great looking notebooks (I, myself, prefer the design of the TravelMate series), and it doesn't surprise me that they did so well towards the end of '05.

Thin and light.

yah well I wish it wasn't true. My screen started getting the brown spots everyone was getting and it got so bad that it made me mess up an entire photoshop print job. i couldn't get a good feel for the color and it was starting to spread to other parts of the screen. So when i spoke to sager they said 850 for the mother board and 600 for the screen!

I mean hey, I made a decent income from the laptop with work contracts etc, probably like 80K over the last three years. So i figure it's time to get a new laptop, problem is I don't have the cash right now so I think I'm gonna have to borrow from my brother and get the Acer 2804 but that laptop seems to have some issues as well.

What "MAJOR" issues has the 8204 had? I'm not aware of any yet? Please let me know. I'm expecting mine tomorrow. I would like to confirm or disprove them (where possible).
