Whats up. I was just wondering who here plays wow and how it's performance is on your laptop, like frame rates and such. The laptop I have right now is a sony viao P4 3.2 ghz 1G of ram with a ATI radeon. I get about an average of 10-20 fps with all setting put down, included with freezing issues if i have the color setting up to 24. I have had this computer for about a year and a half and was thinking of upgrading to and alienware, mostly for gaming. input?

well, havent played WoW on a laptop yet, but yours is specced better than my Desktop (which i played on). And the only hiccups i got was when i was in Ironforge. I think everyone has that problem due to the sheer population of the city. i was averaging 45-60 fps when not there.

lots of people play on here. i dont, dont like that type of game and dont have the time to play. im sure a couple people will be in here soon...what model sony do you have? i was thinking of sony before i got my alienware. i couldnt be happier with my choice.

I play WoW on my M5700 that has 1 gig of ram and a 6800 and i cna play with EVERYTHING cranked all the way up and nothing really probly about 30 FPS

With a 7800 GTX Go, I have the luxury of running it at 1920x1200 with 4x AA and every other setting on max. On top of that, I have V_sync enabled, and combined with triple buffering, I rarely see less than 40fps. I still get dips when Ironforge or Orgrimmar are full of people, but even then it is playable. 1GB will get you by for sure, but 2GB of RAM really cuts down those loading times between instances or continents.

I have also played this game with a 6800 Ultra Go, and turning it down to 1920x1200 without AA is about the same performance as the 7800 GTX Go with 4x AA. On my desktop, which is an Athlon XP 2800+ with 1GB of RAM and a 128MB 6800 vanilla, I found that 1280x960 with no AA and the other settings maxed out was right.

So, if you have a 6800 equivalent or better, and at least 1GB of RAM, then expect WoW to run great. My friend ran WoW on a GeForce 4 ti4600 for a while, so I assume with a few settings turned down, even a GeForce 4 can easily handle WoW.

I've got the new Aurora 4400 Amd Dual Core, with 6800 Ultra, and 1 gig of Ram. I turned it to the highest setting and play with no problems. I stopped playing wow because they charge way to much to play. Pluse you can play for 2 hours and get nowhere. All you do is just run around.

I play on Shadowmoon PVP, horde side.

Have a lvl 60 Tauren Warrior and a lvl 54 Undead Mage. Plays flawlessly.

I can play WoW at Max setting, 1920x1200, Full AA, except for V-sync, with no lag at all in battlegrounds and raids, smooth as silk, with my 6800 ultra.

I also have a Ti4600 on my desktop, which at the time cost me $500, with this card, you will not be able to play in battleground or raids.

Those are two good points-

The 6800 Ultra Go can easily handle 1920x1200 with 4x AA when v_sync is off, although on both my friends' XPS 2, it gets a little slow during raids...probably around 30 fps or less sometimes (I've watched them do several raids). Luckily that's still playable for WoW.

Also, the friend that has the ti4600 got his XPS 2 before he reached the level requirements for big raids, and that was before battlegrounds was added. You know more than I do.

Couldn't resist stirring up the rivalry, could ya? It's ok though, I don't need to defend the laptop I chose. Do you?

My brother plays wow on a IBM T41 with 768mg RAM and a radeon mobility 7500...

he plays it on 800x600 with almost everything turned down....

I gotta tell ya i was surprised how playable it was.... there where definate frame drops in IronForge... and i havent seen him do any RAIDS... but i have seen him do some full party instances and they ran pretty much smooth....

I think its a great compliment to Blizzards development that he can pretty much play this game in its entirety on a machine that is clearly not for gaming.

Not at all. I was simply in the World of Warcraft mood and thought my line was good. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

I totally misread that. My fault. Maybe I should learn more about Warriors, I really only like DPS classes.
