Dell about to release slew of Core Duo and Solo notebooks!!

Thread Starter
Check out this article on www.dailytech.com which states that Dell is about to release a number of new Inspiron notebooks based on the Core Duo and Core Solo CPUs. It looks like the I9300 will go in the trash heap very soon to make way for these notebooks. Google apparently spilled the beans on this one. The prices look good, and there's a wide range of notebooks that will be available.

Sounds exciting!!!

the 9300 hundred was already pushed out of the way by the e1700, these are just refreshing the 6000, M140, 700m, etc.

Which one on that list is the "new" 700m?

thanks

I guess I mean which one "replaces" the 700m I know Dell seems to be going with some new naming method. Makes it a bit hard to compare to the "last generation".

I wonder what vid cards are gonna be offered with these.

Any ideas?
Ah, in good Dell tradition probably very good cards at first, then crappy integrated ones are gonna replace those, and then they will introduce lower spec'ed hdd's and memory, so they can give us their wonderful Free Memory Upgrade and hdd upgrades so cheap (when in fact these were default when released). Hm, that was basically the I9400s life cycle in Norway up to now...

Oh yeah, disregard my post. Just cynical today!

Maybe the e1405 or 640m will have dedicated graphics.

Wow expensive. I configured my $1500 9300 the same as the replacement and it was 3400. Such a deal!

Yeah they are really proud of the new ones pricewise.

This is my guess.

Since the e1705 = 9400

The e1505 or I6400 = will be like a 6000i replacement (15 inch screen)

The e1405 = looks to be a high performance 14 incher , PLEASE give us dedicated graphics look at the prices!

The I640= Looks to be a dual core version of the M140/I630

CAN WE PLEASSSSSSSSSSE GET A DAMN UPGRADED I700/I710 with Core DUO!!!

I'm really wanting to see what they come up with on the XPS side with the dual cores.

obviously based on the prices , in that data sheet there is no information showing an XPS gen 3 based laptop yet. Since its going to be a quick flop to merom, and the XPS being dells flagship unit. Im sure they will wait till the 64 bit processor or an improved graphics card (haha nvidia is forced to pop out graphics card every 6 months so probally SLI, or a 512 7800 gtx version?)

Yeah I was thinking they would wait until Merom as well on it but was hoping they might kick something out sooner.

Hopefully when it comes out with merom their will be some sick coupons or mistake coupons and there is less bugs then yonah.

Sweet!!! I'm sooo glad I passed on those last "deals" from Dell for the current pentium M notebooks! Bring on the core duo's!!!
strange that the 1405 is pricier than the 1505. It would be great to see a 14" machine that could play games like the 1705
