Hi,
All I here is this driver and that driver ahhh. All I get when trying modded drivers is a bunch of hazzles stuttering, freezing, not to mention the memory error that should have been fixed ages ago. I'm getting 6709 in 3dmark2005.
I have GO 7800 GTX not over clocked and the CPU is a 2.26. As for Arctic silver I believe in it but not for the application such as these. My CPU is 27c Idle and 55 Under full load. GPU 48 Idle 75 to 80 under load, but I turn my powermizer setting to balanced and things realy cool off and I still get 50 to 60 fps in Battlefield 2. anything over 30fps the human eye can not see,and nothing ends up going over 60c now.Dell has done there homework even if some are not believers. As for overclocking this card get real lets all just light are lappies on fire for an extra frames a second.

Play Hard.

why are they the best?

The 30fps thing is bull, and has been proven wrong. I agree with the rest of this topic though, but OCing does give a noticeable difference in some apps.

I'm sorry but if you can't tell the difference between 30 FPS and 60 FPS you have serious health issues and/or are drunk 24/7.

Cool!

By the way, I use the latest forceware off NVidia's site via laptopvideo2go because new drivers are primarily for bug fixes, not slight performance increases in 3dmark. Dell's 7800 GTX Go driver pre-dates Call of Duty 2 by a healthy chunk of time, so the latest forceware is much more appropriate.

I've yet to find a driver that doesn't crash my counter-strike source online play after a few hours. any suggestions?

Ever called tech. support?

So basically you just think they should be better but there is no proof?

30 fps -> 60 fps is definately noticeable. I think that above about 40 is where I like it--more is better of course. Dips below 20 start to drive me mad, but I can deal with it periodically. i.e. FEAR.

For me Ceramique dropped temps a decent amount and I am pretty happy with it. I want to go into the comp to check how it spread out since there are a lot of posts about there being a gap between gpu and the heatsink, but I will wait until I have a better reason.

I agree that you should minimize overclocking---I burnt out an old GeForce4 Go early by overclocking. Or at least that is what I believe caused the problems.

The Dell stock drivers have crashed on me just as much as the modded ones. The 83.20 Extreme-G drivers have been doing good for me so far.

Does it crash to a white screen? if so you need a new graphics card to fix the issue.
My graphics card is fine, I think counter-strike is just a buggy game.
Just the same, I'm going to "go out on a limb" and stick with my Extreme G drivers instead....
I have been pretty happy with DELL's drivers. I am also using my notebook for critical business tasks so I would rather err on the side of caution with drivers specifically modded and tested with the XPS GEN 2 in mind.

Benchmarks please, to support the notion of Dell drivers being the best.

Being the best doesn't necessary mean it has better performance, it may just be the reliability and stability that people look at.
It has been discussed many times but I would like to stress it again that 30fps is normally just an average with troughs going sometimes down to <10 fps. 60 fps OTOH virtually guarantees that you stay above 25-30 fps even in the most intense fights, lights, geometry etc.
I would say just stick with what works for you. It does seem that a lot of people are happy with the moded drivers, though.

Well what if I contend that my Extreme G drivers ALSO give me better visuals meaning the graphics look better with my driver over the stock Dell drivers?
