Best DVD Viewer for 9300?

Any good one?

I like intervideo's windvd, its pretty sweet. although there never versions are leaning towards more ugly looking bling (think ati catalyst control panel) and less feature (think xine in linux)

PowerDVD, WinDVD, NVIDIA decoder thing, etc etc etc...

where can i get the nvidia decorder thing?....

I refuse to support that nvidia purevideo crap. It's ridiculous to sell someone a graphics card, listing good mpeg decoding as a feature, then charge upwards of 20 bucks for the software to use the feature. That's like me selling you a car claiming it got great mileage and then you pay him and you get a car without a windshield, which they then try and sell to you. It's the one thing I hate about nvidia, everything else I love though

It is a GREAT program. It takes full advantage of the ~20 million transistors on the GPU for PureVideo which greatly increases both quality and performace of video playback. You can get a trial at the NVidia site.

i like vlc player for video playback.. I enjoy setting my desktop to a dvd or divx movie.. Nice to watch a movie in full screen and be able to work over top of it.. I'm sure other media players can do this, but i like vlc player. .everything about it.. even the goofy looking street cone icon.. Its a good freeware program that supports a multitude of multimedia formats (though my friend is having dvd playback issues, like sound studdering and whatnot.. on my old 9100, but its probably a codec issue or something dumb.. I've never had a real problem with it on my 9300)

Three words: Video LAN Client

Ditto, which is found here.

My german teacher told me about this.

I haven't tried Video Lan, but I use Media Player Classic and it's pretty awesome also. It's got a very small footprint, is very versatile, and plays just about everything.

what programs can be used to watch a movie on the desktop while doing other stuff over top of it? Can Power dvd do it?
i use vlc too, just annoying sometimes when the media buttons on front of the 9300 wont work with it. otherwise it has great image quality (wmp 9 and 10 are HORRENDOUS video quality) but yea, i agree with simpleton. we buy a 200 dollar graphics card, and then they wont even give us the 20$ service for something that the card is supposed to do anyways????? talk about not appreciating ur loyal customers.

All I know is VLC crashes all the time on me. Did the same thing back when I used a PowerBook. I personally use CyberLink PowerDVD, or Media Player Classic.

(EDIT: I downloaded nVidia PureVideo, and it definitely plays things smoother -- meaning no dropped frames. But, but I can't seem to tell a difference in how it LOOKS compared to PowerDVD other than the color differences.)

Yeah it isn't bad. I use that at home.

VLC never crashes on me.

It plays everything: DVDs, CDs, and pretty much every compressed AVI without a single codec installed. I also don't have any audio codecs installed and it never seems to miss a beat, pardon the pun.

Another vote for MPC! I also install DivX and between the 2 I have no problems or complaints. I have been looking at nVidia's PureVideo product but haven't tried it yet. I've installed VLC twice on my laptop and again on 2 other PCs and it has crashed on each. To bad since I have heard alot of good things about it. I just dont think its all that stable.

I like Intervideo's windvd 7.

I vote again for the Nvidia PureVideo DVD decoder. Yeah, it's a steep price, but you are paying for the best Picture Quality possible out of your Nvidia card. I've been carefully comparing PQ across decoders back since the NVdvd 2.55 version... and it's still the best (compared to WinDVD and POwerDVD, the closest is the TheaterTek).
