Best WSXGA+ laptop?

OK, my trusty Mitac 8050 got stolen last night, and I'm in need of a replacement. I don't necessarily need to go barebones, but I definitely need the most lappie for under $2k that I can find, and in a hurry. 60 hr weeks go a lot slower if you're forced to do 'em at the office.

Resolution was a big issue; I'd love something more than just the 1200x800 widescreen.

I've heard good noises about ASUS and Acer. Does Sager have anything that won't break one's back? Where should I be pokin' around to find things?

Thanks!

i like the acer's. i think you can get a good tm8104 or tm8204 for that matter in your price range. check out each companys specific forums for more information on their products.

sorry to hear about your loss, hope the new one is just as trusty...

I was going to say the 8204 is a bit out of your pricerange, but if you dont want a 17" laptop the mighty acer is probly the best thing out there, You have to let everyone know how you like then thing when you get it.

Yea, I figured that going for Core Duo would get me in the latest generation of tech, and it was barely more expensive than customizing a whitebox to get similar specs.

Eventually, I'll have to see if this thing is upgradable, but chances are that won't be necessary for a looong time.

Now, I'm going to have to see if I can't finagle a I-Don't-Agree-With-the-EULA Windows refunds.
