Cyberpower Msi Megabook M635

Hello,

I just received my MEGABOOK M635 based laptop from buyxg.com (MSI MS-1029 Notebook 15.4" Glare WXGA 1280x800 Pixel w/ Mobility Radeon X700 Video, Turion™64, & 802.11b/g Wireless/ATI RX 480M + ATI SB 400 Chipset Mainboard ---info from their site), although the sticker on the laptop says cyberpower.

I am having the following problem; I ordered the laptop to come without an operating system, since as a student my university gives me almost all MS programs for free, so this way I saved $60. Now they sent the notebook with Windows installed but no registration code, so technically NO windows. Everything worked fine both when powered through an outlet and just on battery. I formatted the system (while powered through an outlet) installed windows xp sp2 pro, installed all the notebook drivers that came on the cd, except the vga driver because ATI had the new catalyst drivers released. I installed all the required updates from windows update site, and got the new catalyst drivers from ATI. Everything worked fine.

Now whenever I unplug the power cord from the laptop so I can use it on its battery the screen freezes, but the mouse works. When I do a hard reboot windows loads, and when it comes to the sign in screen it just stays black, but the system works. In other words my mouse pointer moves and if I hover over the user sign on icon I can click and sign on, the programs apparently load too, but all I see is the mouse pointer, just the white corners of the boxes in which the programs run in, and the oval shape of the start button. The rest is black.

Plug in the power adapter, restart, everything works fine.
Could any one help me with this issue, I would be very thankful.

Thanks

I'd check the AMD site for a processor driver.

Unistall the ATI drivers and revert to the one's provided on your driver disc.

Thanks guys, I uninstalled the ones from ati page and installed the ones from MSI.

The thing that I am worried about is that I hope MSI will update its drivers to match those of ATI current technology.
