best linux distro?

Anyone have any things on which linux distro supports the sager 5680 the best? Mines otw, and with the recent changes in redhat, I'm nollonger married to redhat 9. I've been thinking fedora, or perhaps SuSe.

Ideally I'd like something that installs and just works.. thoughts, experiences?

Thanks

Maybe Knoppix (Debian). Knoppix have a very good hardware recog!

I would assume that Fedora works well since it's basically the Red Hat 10 that never was. I'm using it on my desktop as the only resident OS, and it's been good to me. Just don't install yum AND apt, I did that and it somehow screwed things up beyond belief, which I ended up reinstalling.

Knoppix >= 3.3 should work, IIRC. 3.2 crashed, I don't remember why. I'm still using RH9 on my laptop, but that'll probably change shortly.

From the other thread, it's obvious that the 56XX supports Gentoo.

Mandrake installs real well but I don't recommend it.

Other than that I have no experience.

Gentoo, Gentoo, Gentoo!

Seriously, though, if you want to learn, Gentoo it is. Check out my 5680/8890 Gentoo Thread.

If I had my preference, I'd use fedora only because I have a pretty long
history using redhat. That said, when I read the forums it looks like things like my internal wirless G drivers may have issues with some releases, etc.

Is there a distrubution that supports the 5680 fully without leaving
some component in the luch?
