I need a new phone...

I get my freebie phone at the end of this month for re-upping for another two and I want to actually research it this time. I'm considering the RAZR 3C or the MOTO 815 or the TREO 650. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm specifically interested in the TREO 650, does anyone have one?

My requirements are speakerphone, camera, bluetooth, yada, yada. Here are my choices...

I have the E815 and I have no complaints, but the new Razr would be sweet...I have a colleague who has a Treo (not sure of the model) and he loves it...seems like you can't go wrong with any of these, so just pick the one that has the features you want...

No phones have warranties, you have to buy that through the cell company.

Personally I was sceptical of the razr, cause it's form factor is much wider, but slimmer, I thought the wideness would be a problem in the pocket. But I borrowed a friends for a few hours, and it is MUCH more comfortable to wear in jeans or pants. And the width is good for larger hands. It is a nice package, and one I would get if the price dropped on verizon to $99 like it was for cingular a couple months ago.

The RAZR is not good.

RAZR hands down, kick a$$ reception above any of my last few phones, ton's of battery life, it's durable as all hell, probably due to the fact that most of the case is metal. I have dropped mine a few times now, even kicked it when I dropped it while walking, and it still looks brand new.

I will tell you, I don't text message (I find it lame to not just pick up the phone and call the other person) so I can't comment on that feature, and I can't stand those goofy looking headset things, so I have no idea how well that works.

I had a RAZR for a month. To each his own, I guess. I found it overpriced, underfeatured, poorly made, awkward to hold and handle, and difficult to quickly punch out numbers or text messages with one hand. I also thought that the software interface sucked and that the issue of it not displaying your missed calls in a traditional manner very annoying.

Man you're picky, I just open the thing up and call people, it's just phone. What do you want it do? Make your coffee in the morning? Then again if I had a choice I would never own a cell phone in the first place, so I probably have no idea what your talking about.

Yes. Picky. But I'd use any of these:

the 815 is sweet. i got mine in december and i love it. takes good pics, easy to use, looks nice. its bigger than my last phone but i dont mind it. it can definitely take a beating too. my friend threw his out the 6th story window to our friend when he was drunk and lets just say its wasnt caught but still worked fine besides some scratches.

the razors are sweet too. i like the LG that rotates to take pics.

ilCacciatore, you suggested a cell phone that doesn't even work in the U.S.: The Razr V3x. Motorola made that for the European market.

You also posted the Samsung A900. Very nice, but Richard is with Verizon so he's not getting that, either.

Richard Carver lives (apparently) in Texas, so the U.S. Razr model that Motorola made that's the V3x's equivalent is the V3c or V3i.

Since Richard is on Verizon & unlikely to switch carriers, the V3c would seem to fit his needs, going by your own suggestions.

Coincidentally enough, I'm also looking to get a new phone with the same requirements, but I'm currently with Cingular. I don't have a contract, so I could switch, but there doesn't seem much point in it anyway. Cingular doesn't have the V3i's up for sale yet, so the waiting game is on.........

Do you insist on staying with Verizon?? I have two A900's (also called the Blade) and they're great. All the good toys in them, plus very sturdy case and allegedly 1/8th or 1/16th inch thinner than the razr..
battery life sucks though, but I'm guessing that's the norm with all of the very thin phones, those batteries are next to nothing in size..

BTW, this is the A900. I didn't see a pic of it in ilC's post above

and here's more info on it

The V3x isn't a technically a RAZR (Motorola developed it outside of the RAZR brannding, then slapped it on at the last minute for marketing) and the V3c and V3i are not equivalents. The V3c/i were developed off the previous RAZR platform, the V3x game from the 1100 series. And I've heard that Cingular plans to release it.

Audiovox 6600 or 6700.

Now, listen to me people.

It is not "just phone". I control my router and my HTPC from this thing. I can send a signal to any of my A/V equipment from this thing. As soon as SlingMedia will release Mobile lient, I will be able to watch any of my DirecTV or Sony 777 DVD changers on this thing.

No, it is not "just phone". But it is a phone all right.

Did I mention StripPoker and Virtual Girl on this "phone"?

i'd try to avoid the razr if i could, and the treo seems pretty bulky with tiny buttons, i'd go for the moto 815. BTW, cool avvie cacciatore. zeppelin roks
