Not to bring an old issue to life...but... This is the first time ive been in a quiet room with my new 8886, and it it quiet, except for this constant *click*..pause for 1-2seconds..*click*...same pause...*clicK*..... The hard drive is just clicking away every few seconds. I read over the forums in seach of a cure, none were found (tried the Intel App. accelrator), is this normal activity for the Toshiba 20gb drive or is it hinthing a short HD life?

squagle, I'm having the same problem. It doesn't bother me (to much background noise in the room) but I would rather it wasn't happening. I noticed that it actually got a bit better when I uninstalled the application accelerator (seemed to speed up a bit too).

I notice you're selling an f-body. Nice cars, I've got a 97 that I plan on keeping until they take my license away .

Actually I just got back my PC, they replaced the whole thing except for the HD. I was able to determine that the HD Noise that I thought I was hearing when doing various thing such as games was in fact NOT the HD. I took apart the computer and listened and it turns out it's coming from the heatsink/CPU area! The new PC does the exact same thing, so I think it's a design "flaw" with the laptop. If you have Morrowind launch it and listen to the back right of the laptop and see if you hear all sorts of weird noises. It's very very obvious on mine.

P.S. I'm guessing the problem is lack of good shielding causing interference which in turn causes the strange noises that get louder the more graphically intensive the program I am running.
