He is right. When you go to unlock professional capabilities in Rivatuner it mentions 24x1x8 which just happens to be exactly the the GTX is. I can't seem to unlock it though. It will probably require a bios modifcation.

that would rock.... now if we can just get some official word on the DDR status of the memory on the Go 7800.... DDR1 or is it DDR3 I have read so many posts here on the forums my mind is spinning.... some say ddr3 others argue ddr1....

any links to official sites would benefit the whole forum i think!!!

Don't need a link. The fastest rate DDR1 ram can run at is 566. 7800Go Ram is running currently in my machine at 900. It is physically impossible for DDR1 to run at 900. The main memory runs at 667 which is already DDR2. Can just use logic to deduce that it isn't ddr1.

i personally thought it was ddr3.... i just see so many questions about the arguments... thanks though...

Cant wait for the 21st... expected delivery date of my E1705...

This is fake. Believe me, I already tested it.

NVStrap is incompatible with the 7800 Go series.

Yeah, trust me.. you'll like it. I just used mine for 4 hours worth of word processing and it's beautiful on the eyes. It's fast, quiet, and overall awesome.

not true. world record for ddr1 on a desktop system (system ram here) is in the 670mhz range. the highest binned ddr1 is 625mhz.

I don't recall the highest graphics ddr1 clockrates, but i do remember that my old 9700pro's stock clock was 730mhz, and that was a card from like 3-4 years ago.

900mhz gddr1 is certainly not out of the question, though it seems that the 7800GO uses gddr3

7800 non-GTX most likely uses the same RAM as the 6800 non-Ultra, whatever RAM that is.

That's bc the RAM speeds on the 7800 haven't really changed compared to the 6800 series.

Well it may exist, but I've never seen that kind of ram in stores. The highest i've seen for sale is 566Mhz and even that is rare in DDR1 that is. Anyways, the main difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is mainly voltage consumption, with DDR3 using less voltage. Even the old 9800Pro 256MB cards use DDR3. The X800XL does as well. I can't see an Nvidia 7 series card using anything less than ddr2 unless they want to get creamed by ATI.

you're also tallking about system ram and not video ram. they are very different things.

the 256mb 9800xt cards used gddr2 and the 128mb variants used gddr1

i'm not arguing with you that gddr3 is certainly the way to go, or even which ram the 7800go has. i'm just saying that gddr1 and gddr2 arent as slow as you think.
