Huh?! Where did you read about it? And why?

is the temp diode defective or something?
It's probably normal. The fans don't stay on constantly as that would be bad for battery life and make for a noisier laptop. It probably is set to come on at 65degC in order to keep it from getting to a point that may start to become problematic and cool it down to somehing substantially lower than the same 65, in this case 55. Sounds normal to me.

yeah, the thing that wondered me was that it pops from 55C directly to 65C and back, not passing all the intermediate temps.
anyways, it's staying at 21C now, when i'm browsing the web

i even managed to play FEAR on my lappy last night with a couple of my buddies in multiplayer, and it runs perfectly! no slow-downs and absolutely no hang-ups, and all this at a resolution of 1024 !!

There is a way to fix it but i don't think you will not be able to retrieve the file anywhere, only Tosh ASP's have access to those types of DL's. What has happened is if they replaced the CPU or motherboard the technician did not run the CPU "initial configuration setup", this would load the correct microcode to the board so that the full potential of the processor is recognized.

Pack it up and send it back is my suggestion. Where did you have it repaired the first time?

BLU, a lot of other M30 owners have used the program and it worked perfectly, so u have absolutely no risk compared to me!!
I tried this utility on an M30 and my computer locked up solid during option 1 (after selecting option 2 on the first screen) on a line that read "CPU configuration table select program V1.0." Am I the only person who has been unsuccessful using this utility on an M30? It was my last hope to get unstuck from 598MHz!!!

Toshiba warranty replacement motherboards typically are factory refurbished ones--not brand spanking new never-used ones. There's always the chance that a replacement mobo will be flaky.

does this tools work on satellite a50?
service center in my country is kicking my head. So i dont want to let my laptop go to their place again.

Sorry to resurrect this thread.

I have a satellite m30-742 recently needed a new motherboard, which has been fitted. CPU speed is now at 600MHz but should be at 1700Mhz, FSB at 100 should be 400. Also the fan appears not to work, although I can manually activate it using an external program.

Many of the links you guys have put up don't exist anymore.

I've tried downloading the same/similar fix called pom200t150.ima which I found on another thread.

But I'm unable to get it to boot in MS-DOS, have tried the ultimate BOOT cd to get to MS-Dos then when I run the iso I get an error.

My e-mail is jntski@googlemail.com

I'd really appreciate getting any help fixing this.

Check this out from another forum...not for M30s but happens to be an Asus I think...the problem/answer could be the same...was this an exact duplicate motherboard you replaced it with..
It could require a BIOS update....check thru the link and see if it might help

This was an exact duplicate motherboard.

The BIOS has been updated to the latest BIOS. Please note I have tried and tested every single BIOS made for my laptop.

That thread did not help much. This thread I'm writing on is the solution but all the links are down.

Yep the thread you linked is exactly where I found the pom200t150.ima fix which I'm unable to install.

I am really at a loss here, maybe one of the gurus could step in...Michelle you out there???

Well the fix is supposed to be on floppy format I mean the pom200t150.ima fix which updates the flash ram or something like that.

Basically it tells my Mobo what the CPU is.

Trouble is I never had the external Toshiba floppy drive, which is how most people I've read about have fixed it.

Have tried to burn the contents to a cd and then boot it up at startup but no result.

If anyone could tell me just how I could I could get startup to boot from a specific file on a cd namely the SETTLB_D.BAT file which I need to boot from this would enable me to fix it.

As is there is no way to get onto real DOS without loading into windows, no F5, F8 keys work etc. so I can start the file off the cd manually.

Managed to nail it!

It was indeed fixed by not the pom200t150.ima fix but an earlier pom200t1.ima fix which I ran in an external floppy drive!

(You can find more on http://www.notebookforums.com/forum/thread/36329/satellite-pro-m35-pentium-m-procesor-stuck-598-mhz/20)

This thread was instrumental in me finding the fix!

You can also find what I've done here:

Re-installing windows fixed my laptop fan as well!

Would like to thank everyone on this thread and forum, thank you thank you! headbang.gif
