GaDzooks....another Noobie on the scene - Page 2

heh, heh, heh

I am continually amazed by the depth and breadth of the knowledge base of the denizens who frequent this forum. Even more amazed that someone would take the time to research a "word from the past" (i promised that i wouldn't use it again); the initiative and motivation to want to learn is something that appears to have been lost forever from the makeup of some peoples' lives.
Fortunately, that does not appear to be the case for the individuals here, even though we hide behind the facades that we present in these forums; a level of sparkling intelligence shines through, that is not present in other forums.

Enough seriousness.....I hope that I can stand the wait....Aarrgghhh!!!!...I want my toy...NOW!!!....please?

*Edit* 'a space in time' Nobody can jam like Alvin Lee...even Johnny Allen
Mark Knopfler, Alvin Lee....I might be tempted to drag the "les paul" out of the case...and then immediately put it back, to watch and enjoy .....if I were ever lucky enough to have these gentlemen jam at my place....I'd even supply the beer....hell, i'd open the beer...

I remember the very first time I heard Dire Straits (on the radio) in 1977/78...I looked at my ol' lady and said, "Who is that, Bob Dylan or The Velvet Underground?", then MTV blossomed...

Alvin Lee still lives! I saw Alvin with Ten Years After in 1971. One of the best pickers in my opinion. Let me run down the rest of my opinion. Jimi Hendrix of course, John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Jeff Beck...well thats my top five anyway!!! But something tells me you've heard this before?

Let us not forget....

Chet Atkins......I'm not sure that we would have any of these great players/musicians without Chet's stylings and improvisations.

"Oh, ye of little faith"

I was starting to think that AW didn't want my hard earned pennies, but as the darkness of despair descended upon the retreating hopes and dreams of one who has lusted for "the machine",suddenly, light has flickered and flared, lighting the way to the future.

In other words....phase 3.

Now, I shuffle forward, rejoining the ranks of the faithful, yea, awaiting the inevitable event, the coming, the arrival, of "the machine".

Yea brother, I have regained my faith, and shall await deliverance.

Indeed...I fear that I may be the most ancient, possibly a relic of a bygone era....a prehistoric dinosaur that hasn't (or won't) come to terms with the diminishing number of days, hours, minutes and seconds left to enjoy.

To put this in perspective....the first computer that I used...had vacuum tubes. Egad.

I know you didn't just say 'Egad', did you??? I lust for vacuum tubes in my Marshall's, but computers? Even I'm not that old

Congratulations on the new machine PerfectStranger!
