Just started playing F.E.A.R today. Like the game, but my system with a pair of 6800Us is just barely makin it at 1600x1200. It actually freezes for a second whenever a game is saved. Aside from the normal de-tuning of the game or droping to 1280x1024, any other ideas ??

nope, i'm playing it @ 800x600 @ the lowest possible settings on my PM-1.4 ati 9600 64mb haha, yea it runs like garbage....oh well, gotta wait till I get my 7700m

yeah i run it maxxed at 1280x1024. thats on a go7800gtx. 2gb of ram etc etc. only way to run fear at that resoultion w/ eye candy is to have 2x 7800gtx 512's or an X1900XT PE crosffire setup if u could actually get your hands on the necessary equipment.

Ouch,

At some point in the next month or two I plan to go from 2x6800Us to 2x7800Gtx-256s. Hope that will cover most of the eye candy.

Dude, my pc freezes when it saves a game, i think it would do that with every pc, as i get a 2-3 second screen freeze when i reach a checkpoint or save the game.

definitely get at least the 7800gtx's, and if u cant afford that go 7800gt's. they are faster and cheaper than ultra's, and the 6800u's are almost impossible to find.

yo evil, everyones freezes at save points, stupid design IMO. FEAR runs great on my laptop and desktop, laptop running 1024 and desktop running 1600. both smooth. neb are you using coolbits?

It freezes while saving on every machine I've seen, but only for a second or two.

If the gameplay is smooth, you're doing fine.

fizzle,

Yes using coolbits, but not ocing over the bfg factory oc. 425/1100 I believe.
The gameplay is fine until the shart hits the fan. Then things get a little jerky. Not unplayable, just not with the authority of every other game I have played so far.

F.E.A.R is almost kicking my computers butt. at least at 1600

Yep - same with mine. I've been impressed so far - have been running at 1920x1200 with everything pretty much maxed out - think I have AA at 4x. I'm enjoying the game - not actually finding it as creepy as I expected. The soldiers scare me when they jump out at me - the weirdy ghosty people are just weird (Although, I've noticed I've not turned this game on since I've been home alone...).
