Fans/temps on 9300 and I9KFanGui

Thread Starter
Heya all,

This is my first time posting, although I have been 'stalking' the forums for a while.

Anyway, I got a 9300 two months ago. It's one sweet little machine!

Recently I downloaded I9kFanGui, and since then it's been monitoring my temps and cotrolling my fans.

The irritating thing is sometimes in game the CPU spins at high. When I had the 'system' handling it before, I rarely even heard the fan.

However, I dont want to damage my CPU/GPU just for some peace and quiet. Without I9K the cpu goes to 60-70 at peak, the gpu at 70. That seems quite high to me.

What do you guys suggest?

you should config it to your tastes.

personally, i think a normal idle temp for the ultra is around 55c. for the vanilla, i'd say around 45 or so. i suggest setting it to start at around 50c.

these are my config settings for the ultra
(fan 2)

lv1 - slow - 56c - 52c
lv 2 - fast - 67
lv 3 79c - fast
lv 4 - 85c - fast

not sure how to config cpu temps yet...so you should find out what your cpu idles at.
EDIT: Also, I've noticed that newer drivers have the tendency to raise your idle temps. In exchange for better performance during gaming of course.

CPU temps are usually 10c lower than your gpu temps. so just base your cpu setting on your gpu settings.

if you want to reset the thermal sensors to let the system handle it again press FN + Z
