I had the same problem. You should replace both brackets, -the one that is working probably has some metal fatigue and will likely break soon if you don't replace it. I found the part numbers in the service manual, and emailed 'em to Sager tech support to order new ones.
LCD BRACKET (LEFT SANYO-CPT 15.1") Part Number 33-56P01-040
LCD BRACKET (RIGHT SANYO-CPT 15.1") Part Number 33-56P01-030
to find the service manual.
I did manage to loosen the hinge, by the way. It was not terribly difficult, but it requires pretty much a total disassembly of the computer. Just follow the directions in the manual on how to remove the bottom casing, and you'll be able to get to the hinges from below and remove them. Once you have 'em out, you can loosen the hinge nut (just a bit, mind you...it'll seem tight in your hand, but the lid is pretty heavy so it needs some tension)
Unfortunately, the process of removing the bottom case involves taking out the processor heat sink, which can be a bit daunting. Once removed, the thermal pad that transfers heat from the proc to the sink will need replacing, so have some some Arctic Silver 5 or something on hand.
Overall, it was a pretty easy job, but it was time consuming. Keeping track of what screws went where was a chore, also. I got my hinges too loose the first time around, and you cannot test it until things are near fully assembled. So I had the pleasure of tearing everything apart twice so I could readjust the silly things.
