There you have it. Guess I'll be getting some soon.

Thats a really good price and warranty. I'll write them and ask them about more detailed specs about the Rams.

Samsung is an excellent quality, but those RAMS are hybrids. TMTC produces the RAM memorychips and Samsung put them on RAM boards.

Thats why TMTC gives you the life time warranty and not Samsung.

Awe crap. I'd much rather have Samsung chips. . . Decisions decisions.

Indeed Samsung would be very interessting but where to buy?

So I decided for Kingmax. 2 x 512 = $178 (just $5 more).

Kingmax has very good specs. CL 2 (!), unbuffered, Non-ECC, 2.5V
It is the fastest RAM I have seen so far (CL2) and the company is as well ISO9001 certified as Crucial. I don't see a reason why not to buy this one.

It's just made in Taiwan like every Piece of the DELL Laptop.

Yeah the price for these two are at newegg.

Although they say CL2 no laptop is configured to use CL2 since so few if any can actually run at CL2 and CL2.5 is everywhere very reliable and whatnot
post #30 of 47
um so what are you saying?...that they will work for our lappys?
Yes they will work but no laptop takes advantage of CL2 latency so it will run at CL2.5 until dell releases some sort of new bios to support this aggressive mmeory setting
post #32 of 47
I think I'm gonna go with NewEgg too but I have to pay tax.

What's the warranty on the memory? Just 30 days?

Most memory company's honor lifetime warrenty excluding Corsair
post #35 of 47
Paid for it last night. $192.69 total.

You will be very satisfied. Befor eyou switch out i would suggest running Fangui and making a note of temperatures now and compare with the new sticks. besure not to mix and match for best performance use 2 of the same make and model.

400MHZ M vs 800mhz Pentium M

There is no difference when dealing with 1 gig cache! In fact the clock HAS to cycle TWICE on a Pentium 4M in oder to get the same performance asa Pentium M chip. AND pipelines are shorter as well in the pentium M chip.

The M chip is actually BETTER in the notebook environment for battery life, cooling, and size.

There should be NO difference in performance at ALL...
The M offers exceptional battery saving features. Along with th eability to turn off parts of its massive 1MB cache to save battery where as the Pentium4M has to use or lose the cache

Nervous about Dell....

Im really nervous about buying the Dell though. Their forum reeks of customer service issues. I never buy 'extended warranties' so I suppose I have to hope I don't need them in a year's time! Seems the notebooks are ok though for the most part except for the Hitachi screen that is obviously inferior to the Samsung on the WSXGA+ LCDS.

Has anyone at Dell addressed this or is it such a small amount of complaints to make it a non issue?
In my opinion this issue is minor. And ive used the hitachi screen and it looks exactly like the Sony S91 LCD desktop panels same ghosting same brightness except for size. for best possibel screens look into WXGA or WUXGA screens or a refurbed as the refurbs are from before dell outsourcing lcd's to hitachi.
I would like to implore everyone whos purchasing a new system to take advantage of dells neglegence and get the extended warrenty. Laptops regardless of brand can and most likely will need service after a year. take the consideration of plunging another 100-200 on extended warrenty now instead of a new system or outrageous repair costs a year later.
