My Review

I hope this helps those who are considering the TravelMate 8200 decide on whether it's the right laptop for them. I'm telling you right now though, I wasn't as objective as I thought I could be. Man, I am loving this thing.
R u still selling your computer??? If so I would like a faster harddrive. Some 7200 Sata Drive with about 80-100 gigs of memory. Which harddrive could I get. I was looking at the CDW.com catalog and couldnt find one that would adapt to it??

It is still for sale. I was going to put it on eBay but haven't had the chance. You could get an 80 or 100 GIG hard drive as lons as it's a "Serial" ATA hard drive. Heck if you are ginuinely interested, I might be willing to take the 100GIG 7200 RPM HDD out of the Thinkpad T60p I just got and swap it for the one in the 8204. I could use the extra space over the extra speed.

Actually, the graphics card in it is great. Super fast and no problems. It's actually runs circles around the FireGL V5200 in my thinkpad and they're both suppose to be built on the same platform. It is not integrated. It has it's own 256 MB of RAM but can barrow an additional 256 MB from the system RAM if necessary.

PM me if you're really interested. I will most likely be eBaying it this coming weekend.

It sounds like you might have gotten rid of your laptop already, but I have a question for you. How does the LCD screen handle scaling down? Im a bit of a gamer, and want to know if I can scale down that resolution to 1280x1024 or so... without significant bluring. I know some LCD's have better scalers than others and wanted to know if you have tried lower resolution gaming on yours. On the laptop I have now, it looks like someone smeared grease over my screen when I lower it. Heh.

The scaling on it is great. I played games on it at various settings and resolutions and it was awesome. I actually preferred it over my 21" HD Monitor. At 21" things can tend to get a bit blurry at the same resolution, simply because the pixels have to be so much larger to fill in the extra space. Not at 15.4" though and not on the 8204.

P.S. I wouldn't say "gotten rid of" because I wish I didn't have to. I miss it a lot and it was definitly faster than my T60p especially at video encoding. Not that this is slow, but there is definitly a difference. But my job function changed a bit (again) and I needed to be able to be more mobile. Who know, maybe that will change again and I can get one again.
