the question is:

is that a vanilla 7800 or the gtx version....

canada = $3000 ish

7800 Gtx

Actually from typical Toshiba designs, I would *really* be suprised for that 7800 to be a GTX, but who knows.

Is it confirmed? I've heard something about 7600... Or there will be different versions in different markets/price ranges?
Vanilla 7800, not GTX.
Wait, when was the specs changed? Last I heard it is a 128MB 7600, not a 256MB 7800. If they went with the 7800 I might have to reconsider this over the Sager and Dells.

Some links that show its a 7600:

It does appear that a non-US version may have much better specs. If Canada gets a better version, I might consider an import depending on the price.

different versions can exist over different regions

In my area you can pre-order the new Toshiba dual core, but it will only come with a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 Video Processor. Right now, I think I wouldn't get it if I could not get the 7800 (even the vanilla one) See link,

Its not going to be too bad..

the average HD DVD player = about $500 USD from what I hear...maybe $400USD.

Take into considertation all the other factors...the G30 is still expensive, but it's soooo sweet.

I'll tell you this much...I'll be selling off my G20 very soon and be picking up the G30 asap.

wow. looks awesome! i love that black finish.

Only thing killing it for me is the GPU; I've yet to see any offical specs that are the 7800; Anyone have a link that says 7800gtx for any region?

I'm leaning toward July as when I might get my next lappy as I have to take a month of vacation before August and can use this as play time.

I'd love to get a fourth Toshiba, espically with a HD drive; but my main purchasing decession is getting a GPU powerhouse for games while in the road.

I'm definitely going to get one of these

I like the sager's 9750 performance and all, but when it comes to well roundedness, nothing beats the G30 in entertainment area...

I suspect it will cost ~ $3,400 USD fully loaded

I was willing to pay ~ $5,100 USD for sager 9750, but it's missing:
a. ability to play dvds & music cd's without booting up o/s
b. doesn't support Windows 2005 Media Center Edition
c. TV tuner & capture cards aren't as capable/functional

Additionally, i don't like all the complaints i hear about driver installs, etc...

If i'm going to pay $5,100 for a piece of hardware, i don't want to then work at getting drivers to install, etc...

So i figure with the $1,600 i'm saving by getting a Qosimo G30,G35, etc...
I'll be in a much better position to sale the G30 when the G40 comes out and still be ahead for not getting 9750...

Granted Sager 9750 is super fast...

So the only hickup in my plans is if i get the G30 and it turns out to be too slow for VMWARE running multiple O/Ss, then it's gone and Sager is in..
