And that all but confirms I'll be buying my first non-Toshiba laptop.

Maybe I'll wait and see the benchmarks first; The specs tell the story on the card, but maybe if Toshiba doesn't underclock the GPU (like all my other systems) it might do decent.

Many of you forget what this machine is gear towards....

Audio Video notebook PC.

The focus is not on gaming...

At $3000+ for a notebook, no company ever looks to sell a bunch of them.

But Guess what..... they will sell ....a few thousand in Canada will buy them over the 3 months after it is launched.

These people that are buying them are not the same type of people that frequent this board.

These people (like those few thousands that bought the F10, F20 x 2 , G10, G20 x 2) will buy it for many reasons that MANY of US on this board may not have in the criteria to buy.

MOREVER, the 7600 GPU is the only chipset from NVIDIA that will suport HDMI OUTPUT (from what I understand).... if the 7800 did...Toshiba Canada would be using it because, once again...look at the SLP that this thing is demanding.

The Gxx series has always been a notebook that people love to critique...and love to rag on. This is because its easy to pick on because of the high price it commands.

I love qosmio but the go7300 is just a misunderstanding!!! ..... and the 1,83ghz core due ... cum on they always have to cut short on sth. (unfortunatelly the ram and HDD too ) The specs we have seen on CES were the one to go not anything else!!!

The G30 gets released in 3 days in Australia, following the below specs:

Intel Core Duo T2400 (2ghz)
256MB Nvidia GeForce 7600
1GB DDR2-533 SDRAM
200GB HD
17.1-inch TruBrite Widescreen XGA+
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

I was alittle concerned about the about of reviews and comments I have been seeing around the internet, theres hardly anything on the Toshiba G30...

Before jumping into purchase it, I thought I'd ask the reasoning behind this and if this laptop was suitable for my usage:

1. I'm looking for a Laptop that I can take to collage, play games (World of Warcraft, Half-Life 2 and hopefully future games), watch the odd DvD and basically replace my Desktop when Im outta the house. I am not looking for good battery life because of course, all desktop replacements dont. Should I be looking at the Dell, Alienware or Sony's? My budget isn't important atm since my current laptop is over 3 years old and its time for an upgrade - rather get the best availiable since technology moves so fast.

2. Is there an actual reason to the poor coverage of this model?

Thanks,

VenomousDesigns

1... not for you...PEOPLE..IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE USING MEDIA CENTER AND PVR STUFF..then spend money elsewhere. Get an aleinware with some high end graphics.

2...because its new...but basically the same as the G20 ..just using DUO Core.

thanks for putting this up yp5, its the truth. the qosmio is not a gaming machine, if you have $3000 canadian buy a dell xps or the 9400, buy a sager 5720, buy an alienware 5700.... those are machines intended for gaming. the qosmio is meant as a media center and is a damn good one at that

I don't think anyone is ragging on the machine; inital reports from CES were 7800 and that got everyone excited, espically me because it was damn near the perfect machine for me.

Toshiba's only problems was communication; many people said they were told or read on a plaque it had a 7800 at CES.

I'm impressed its going to be the 7600 256MB; I would have thought Toshiba would have gone for 128MB. Still, the 7600 will be leaps and bounds better than the 5600 64MB in my Toshibs 5205-S705 (their first real Media Laptop).

Who knows, If the USA gets the 7600 and its and its a decent CPU I can get atleast $300 to $400 off retail through work and the extend warranties are 1/3rd what the general public pay; so this could be my stop-gap machine until the Summer of 2008 when DX10 laptops may be out.'

What concerns me is the USA sepcs not even having a 7600:

I dont know if it is exactly that, as i just converted it from pounds. I highely suspect that it would be a lot cheaper, as we always get stung for prices compared to you american/canadians.
