It sounds like you don't even need a notebook in the first place if you're considering an iMac. Do yourself and everyone else a favor, and either get the iMac, or build yourself a desktop. |

) This one experience and the way toshiba treated her really soured me on toshiba quite a bit.

The good news is that you might be able to buy a new slim drive however I've heard that Toshiba's don't like some of the drives out there and I know that mine doesn't like the slim drive that I bought for it. Good luck with it, if you have any type of a warrenty just make them replace the drive.
Good luck and I hope it works out. |
For reading DVDs your drive needs more power an precision than a CD !!

Later you would have to "wedge it" with a pack of index cards to get it to power the notebook. At first I thought my girlfriend had treated it too rough. Later I found out that this has been a continual problem. Amazingly they don't do repairs, they had to replace the ENTIRE motherboard. This took a couple of weeks (close to a month as I recall). Toshiba basically said "tough luck were repairing it though, deal with it". What if they got their only computer taken away for a month (due to "parts back orders"...GEE I WONDER WHY???
