Recording Help

Whats up guys,

I just ordered a creative audigy2 ZS for my laptop, primarily for the logitech z5500's i'm ordering and to use it with my dvd player. (i got it from zipzoomfly for 86.99 plus $30 mail in rebate) However, I realized that I might as well take advantage of the new hardware and do some recording for fun.

Whats the cheapest way to record my bass/guitar onto my laptop? Is it possible to use the software that creative provides and just get a 1/4'' to 1/8'' adapter and plug a guitar straight into my laptop and record some stuff? or can i plug my bass into my bass amp, then use the line out into the laptop? here is a list of software they provide:

* Creative Audio Console
* Creative Diagnostics
* Creative Speaker Calibrator
* Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player
* Creative Speaker Settings
* Creative Smart Recorder
* Creative SoundFont Bank Manager
* Creative THX Setup Console
* Creative Surround Mixer
* Creative Graphic Equalizer
* Creative WaveStudio
* EAX Console
* Sound Blaster Performance Utilities
* DTS Neo:6 Settings
* Windows Drivers

What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated.

I also have a $10 generic brand microphone that I could just put infront of my guitar/bass amp, haha.

Uh, dont touch that mic, unless you want a doorstop.

Take the line out of your bass amp and run it into the line in on your card, it wont give you great results but it is the best way of doing it without a budget.
