4780 Bios Update W/ Bootup Beep Disabled Here!

Got the bios from David Liu at sager finally.
Since his instructions were for a 4780 w/ floppy drive, which boggles me.

Anyway, grab the iso here.
http://web.tampabay.rr.com/something/
the file is called 4780Update.iso
It is an image of a bootable win95 boot floppy with the bios files in there too.
Burn it to a cd with your favorite cd burning software.
Then boot it your 4780 with it.
After you get the "A:\" prompt. Type "Cd\bios" {Enter}
that will change you to the directory with the bios files.
Then type "autoexec.bat"
which will run the phlash software and flash your bios with the new bios.
Warning: This is for the 4780 only. if you think this is some sick joke, look at the contents of the cd itself and view the autoexect.bat within the bios directory.

Well there you go fellow 4780 sagers!.

Thank you m8. I'll give it a try l8er... I don't need the .iso file, as I have a tiny 7.8Mb partition (that unpartitioned space that often is left when u make a new primary bootable partition because if not it crosses the 1024 cylinder boundary) in FAT, to mess around with BIOSes and stuff that needs real DOS, but it's easy to extract only the BIOS file with a little help of IsoBuster and WinImage.

forgot to mention, when it is flashing, yes it will make beeps, dont freak out

hey Igg, did you notice that boottime increases a lot cuz it doesn't do a quick/fast POST? and my 512mb ram takes a while to POST the old fashioned way? I couldn't find a switch for that in the BIOS

the first time after its flashed it will do a ram check, but after that it will not do it anymore

Tested yesterday... Works perfect, thanx. Finally I got rid of the annoying boot beep. It's a pity that the BIOS is feature-locked though but we couldn't expect anything else... One of these days I'll find a utility like AMIBCP but for Phoenix bioses... One of these days...

thanks, works like a charm.......I half expected it to reset my "Ctrl - Fn" key swap, but it didn't, thanks again for posting it.

Anyone know if there is a 4080 version for this firmware?
...or if the 4780 bios would work for us 4080 users, by chance?...

would love to get rid of that beep...

mm, second the interest in a 4080 version. that boot beep is really obnoctous. i like the idea of a feature unlock too....im fairly ceartian the RAM/FSB could go up a bit without trouble... oh well, lesser priortiy.

You guys have to contact Sager or Adam for that one.. All i did was took the version they gave me and put it in a bootable cd since us 4780 bums do not have a floppy

If I've already flashed the bios for the CTRL-FN Swap, will this undo that change, because i can bear a beep and i can't bear me fat fingering the control key all the time.

Thanks.

No, the keyboard bios is kept unaltered, which means that the CTRL-Fn "mod" will remain... In fact you need a different flasher for a different EEPROM to flash the keyboard bios.

Can I burn both 4780 BIOS changes to one disc effectively killing 2 birds with one stone? I dont fell like burning 2 future coasters when I can burn just one.
