WoW! (the expression, not the game)

Well I remember loving games that were being made by a company named "Origin".

Remember them, makers of Privateer (one of my favorite games ever) and Wing Commander, BioForge, Crusader: No Remorse, and of course Ultima. But then they decided it would would be so nice to make ONLY online games!

From that point on, I couldn't stand Origin and Online games period.

Then one day I was looking for a new game. I saw Guild Wars and it looked pretty cool. Then I saw on the box it was online only, and I was like "SCREW ONLINE ONLY CRAP!" then as I was just about to put the box back down I saw that there were no online fees! I was like "OH SNAP!, not that is more like it." Well I still didnt get it but I checked online about it and heard nothing but good things, some bad (very rare), and Gamespot gave it a great review. So I said what the Heck, bought it and installed it.

Seriously I fell in LOVE with this game. It was so addicting! The graphics were spectacular! And yes I have seen Wow, WoW aint got sh!t on GW graphics wise. I dont have nothing bad to say about this game. I cant wait until FACTIONS comes out!

So I feel you, I hated online games mostly because the stupid online fees, but Guild Wars did it right, and guess what, ITS FREAKIN' SWEET!

Man I loved PRIVATEER too, oh the good old days.

BTW Sorry so long. Thanks all.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. But I will take your word for it, plus since I LOVE Guild Wars and I dont appreciate pay at least another $100 for the game to play for a year. Never really got in Counter Strike, but I love Half Life and Unreal Tournament, Cant wait for some good FPS/RPG games.

WoW is so good I have 2 accounts, one for me and one for the wife. $180 x 2, per year. Worth every cent.

For the record, I do not hate WoW, I just wish I could aford it.

Note: I can afford it, I just cant justify the cost. But those of you that can, ROCK ON!

You can say that again! I pray there will be another Privateer game that is worthy of the original but on a PC, XBOX/360, or PS2/3.

I can only dream and pray to the GAME GODS!!!!

Hey everyone,

I hate to get this thread back to where it started, but... I too play WoW and have been able to run it with most settings maxed and get just about flawless performance. Like someone said, though, it seems impossible to avoid any dramatic framerate drops.

One thing, though. Someone said that they can get a stable 30 fps in end-game 40 man raid content. I don't think I have ever been able to maintain that. Just curious as to what video driver your using, because I would love to get similar performance.

I'm thinking I may need to de-frag my computer, too, not sure how much that can help performance in WoW...

I get 30ish fps in endgame, but I'm not running with all settings on or at full 1900x resolution.

Next, to the folks who can't afford it... it's the equivalent in cost to one lunch out with the guys at work for me.

Considering it's my biggest hobby, it's a small price to pay. I also don't buy 3 games a month anymore like I used to (buy, beat, get another)... this game is too expansive to get tired of it.
