There is one way, other than a Ground Loop Isolator, to get around this hum. If you have a receiver with coaxial digital audio input (essentially a single RCA connection), or your flat panel has this connection (usually orange, but not always), the digital signal will not be affected by the hum. You just need the little A/V output dongle that came with the computer.

My TV makes the hum whether I plug the comp into the same outlet or different. Hmm I don't have a digital receiver or the input on my tv... I've gota find the ground loop insulator.

Have you found one yet?

I got myself one today and it makes a huge difference.
There is no humming any more whatsoever.

This is the one I bought:
http://www.carhifi-shopping.de/pd203...?categoryId=13

Here is the company that makes it:
http://www.sinuslive.com/index.htm

I can really recommend it.
It's small (pretty heavy though!) and works fine.

It's made for car hifi systems, actually. But ... who cares...???

Yea I got one from The Source (Radio Shack)! It works Doesn't eliminate it COMPLETELY but now you can BARELY hear the difference with it plugged in or not.

Off Topic here:

Can't agree more about monoprice.com. After reading the same suggestions over at avsforum.com, I gave them a shot. They wanted $50 for a 25' HDMI to HDMI cable that would have cost $200+ in a brick and mortar store like Best Buy. Couldn't believe the price and I was a little leary of buying as its one of those too good to be true things. They had a great return policy, so I took a chance and couldn't be happier. The HDMI cable I purchased (and the 30' RGB component, 50' S-Video and a few others) were thicker, sturdier, more rugged and all around better quality than the ones I saw in stores for 4 times the price. I also picked up a DVI to HDMI adapter for less than $5. The HDMI port on one side of it was made just a little too tight and I ended up pulling the gold tip of the HDMI cable off trying to get it out of the adapter. I emailed monoprice asking if they'd return this one and let me make a new order, rather than exchange, so that I wouldn't have to wait for them to receive the defective one. They were fine with it when they could have been like most other internet merchants and just said no.

for monoprice.com. They're also an avsforum.com sponsor now as well.
